Chia might not be all that great. It turns into a gel when exposed to water, and that gel isn't exactly digestable and may cause fat and other absorption issues, even though the type of fiber is beneficial for our gut flora.
Further, conversion of ALA to EPA isn't all that great in humans to begin with, and those with the lower capacity FADS2 gene have about 30% less ability to do this conversion.
