(at least I do) I have found over my time period of eating paleo that when I feel really really crappy I tend to worry less about eating chocolate or potatoes or going a bit off the beaten path. I wonder if there is any research as to why we do... (more)
Hey everyone. I was just wondering about cheat meals and being paleo. I am an active then girl who does paleo mostly 85-90% of the time...but sometimes, im with friends and they will have brownies or icecream and I just have to have some! I'm not... (more)
After a week of being strictly Paleo, I succumbed to a very delicious looking brownie. My roommate brought home a whole tray over the weekend and I'd been staring at them for days but turning toward fruit instead. In a moment of weakness I... (more)
Hi guys, I've been trying the autoimmune protocol for about 3 months now and had great success. As long as I stick to it, a very strict version, I am pretty much completely symptom free of Chron's. My question is about reintroducing certain... (more)
I spent 4 straight weeks only Paleo - doing amazing! Then, started traveling for work again. What is the best way to get back to the results I was seeing in the shortest timeframe?
So I've been doing this paleo thing for 4.5 days and am trying to figure things out as I go... I think I've been doing well, but not perfect. But who is, really? Sweeteners: I know that honey and pure maple are OK. But what about others, in... (more)
Sweeteners: after experimenting with a few different ones I finally just quit them all. There is a fair amount of evidence that artificial sweeteners trigger hunger and insulin responses as much as sugars and in many ways are just as bad for you.... (more)

Standing rib roast, Salmon Roe, Jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon instead of batter, Cheese plate, Veggie tray, Roasted Chestnuts, Wild boar salami With that list why cheat?
For any of you out there who doesn't know anyone who is paleo, I bet you guys can relate. So it's my friend's birthday next week, and we're going out for a meal. Brilliant, I thought. Only it turns out it's a 'set meal'. So for starters it's... (more)
You will be fine. 80/20 rule applies - you need to enjoy life too.
I'll admit it; I do. I'll be clean for 5 or 6 days, and then I'll succumb to Chick-Fil-A. Then the next week, maybe some rice and beans. The next week, pizza. Nine months paleo, but I will honestly say I haven't gone 30 days gluten free, at the... (more)
Not going TO party, visiting a friend and watching Phantom of the Opera (so exciting, I know!) Though they live minutes away from the strip, and well, you know. It's Vegas. Driving from L.A, I have to consider both the commute and the weekend. I... (more)
So, I've been pretty strict Paleo for about 5 months... I am extremely active (college athletics and crossfit) and have always been relatively healthy. I have no auto-immune disorders, celiac, etc. and I'm not trying to lose any... (more)
I've been eating primarily paleo since last sept, sometimes more on the Mark Sisson end of the spectrum, sometimes more whole30-esque. I've lost about 40 lbs of fat, which was much needed. I no longer eat this way primarily for the weight loss,... (more)
Every other weekend I visit family a few hours away for the weekend, and every time I find myself in a bit of a mess. Before I leave I'll feed myself clean, and sometimes I get a chance to order "the next best thing" of meat (+etc) the fast-way,... (more)
Three months paleo (some days good, some days...not so good), I have seen results, lost almost 10lbs, but I'm in it for the long haul. And some days, I cheat. Like, hard core. I kick myself and get upset, but then start a new day, but some days I... (more)
Hi! I am thinking about starting a Paleo lifestyle, or at least try whole30 (for general better health (I have IBS, migraines and random/vague pains) and weight loss), but I am not 100% sure yet. I thought "trying won't hurt", but now I am reading... (more)
I'm hoping to get back to the basics of paleo and start with a couple of weeks going very low carb (<20 if I can stand it, <50 if I can't). I'll bring some more carbs in after that. I'm feeling pretty shitty because I've been cheating quite... (more)
Is the impact of "cheat meals" lower on sunny days (assuming you get some sunlight)? Had some nasty meals (gluten, [hydrogenated] vegetable oils, loads of sugar, soy, etc...) over the past two days and surprisingly I don't feel like crap nor am I... (more)
I think it's pretty hard to draw any definitive line between the sun and feeling better after cheats. I'd bet it's the carbs. I still get an endorphin rush when I eat more carbs than I'm used to, like an addict going back to a drug.
I hear people talk about the "80 / 20" way of eating Paleo, and when I they admit to what the other 20% is, it's usually that they eat potatoes, some sort of dairy product, or even just a chocolate bar. I haven't heard anyone admit to eating any... (more)
I just got back from my new naturopath, and she has started me on a gut healing protocol for my colitis, celiac, thyroiditis, and liver problems. I am used to smaller meals (I get full really easily) with snacks like fruits and nuts throughout... (more)
I have been very good the whole few months being on paleo but as it was easter recently and alot of my family did give me chocolate eggs and rabbits ect i couldn't hlp myself i ate quite a bit of chocolate and i still have alot left in my fridge,... (more)
Could you bring it to your workplace and share it with co-workers? If you have an office desk, you could place it out and people could just grab some of it when they stop by. Or if you have a break room, you could bring it there.
So never in my life, And I mean never, Have I thought seriously about sticking my finger down my throat: until today. So I fell off the wagon a bit over the past few days with some chocolate and various homemade sweets (and a couple beers). Its... (more)
I know I know. I shouldn't have cheated. But I did. And now I'm feeling the effects of my poor decision-making. Bloating. Stomach Girgles. Lethargy. Sweating. Acne. Tiredness. And all around general discomfort. Was it worth it? Probably not.... (more)
UGH! I took a vacation a few weeks ago and indulged for 4 days on grains, sugars, all the nasty crap I've been avoiding for 6 months and now I'M MISERABLE! My gut is rumblie, my stools are funky, my breath is blech, and I am bloated to the... (more)
Sometimes I do want to splurge and get a deli sandwich for lunch (I still do think the sandwich is one of the best inventions ever). The question is, which kind is the lesser of all evils - wheat, multi-grain, rye, pumpernickel, a wrap? Some of... (more)
