also what do you call it?

cheat day

ease back on the reins day

carb reload day

carb backload day

wide load coming through day.. lol

chill out and do wutev day

fuckit day

IT AINT GONNA KILL ME DAY!

Sure, but don't get in the habit of 'justifying' bad behavior simply because you can exercise the bad away. Doesn't work that easily. But it's the best you can do after cheating at atone for your sins...

ty for response..yes i dont care much for 'cheat day' either. Lots of discipline to get through that weight loss stage. Good for you! :) I dont call them anything really - (maybe im my mind i just say fuckit though..lol ) i just deal with the consequences and try to get back on track sooner rather than later. I another cutesy expression - "Im being bad today"..lol. blech-

Looooowww! I will eat one fatty meal (often coconut milk based thai curry) with snacks of smoked salmon, boiled or scrambled eggs and perhaps some un-homogenised milk (organic if possible, raw even better), Greek yoghurt with a few berries, some cheese etc.

hehe.. i too try to hold off a day or 2 (usually) :) yes water retention .. why so easy for it to go up (like a homemade mac n cheese din has been known to = literally a 4-5 lb increase. Its ludicrous!.:) I dont even like to rely on tape measure cuz i feel i never can determine whether the tension or lack thereof that im using when measuring is the same as the last time- so a little change is easy to dismiss or imagine.

I haven't eaten wheat products for a long time (a year at this point). Before then, I was still primarily in weight loss mode, and if I decided to have something with gluten, I would be up about 3lbs the next day. I was also weighing myself compulsively, everyday at the time, so I know it was true, but clearly it wasn't fat change, just bloating.

When I had off-days in that time that were just "eating too much", I honestly wouldn't see any gain at all - but I would see stalled weight loss overtime. It would stall out for about 5 days to a week. However, I was in it for the long-haul, and never fretted about stuff like this. Eating too much healthy food is bad for weightloss, but it's not "bad".

I'm in a totally different place now, and I'm actually trying to gain bodymass - so there's a lot of eating, and a lot of lifting heavy weights. There is so such thing as a cheat day anymore. "Cheating" is anything I can do to cram more healthy food in me -- getting me there quicker.

Regarding "cheating" as a name - I hate hate HATE when people refer to simple failure as "cheating". If you eat too much dark chocolate or something, then cutesy names like 'cheat day' are AOK, but it still promotes a fallacious term. Carb reload days are planned, and only fit into active lifestyles, and should never be used in the same sentence as "cheating". Trust me, it's hard to have a cheat day when you struggle to feed your body enough as it is! However, when I was in the weightloss mode for a long time, I just called my off days "off days", and I recognized them as what they were: the small roadblocks I chose to erect in my own path.

To call making your own goals harder as "cheating" is disingenuous, as they are not making your path shorter, but rather they are making your path harder to cross.

A cheat day (especially is gluten is involved) usually adds about 5 lbs to the scale for me and then takes 2-3 days to go back to normal.

Carb backload meal, 3x per week (only after the gym), two of which will typically be more "paleo high carb" (lots of rice or potatoes along with some fairly lean meat), one of which will be a genuine cheat meal in order to satisfy my love of doughnuts.

I don't weigh myself often, but in terms of body fat I reliably feel leaner the morning after than any other day.

For me personally, this has more to do with my workout routine and exercise schedule. If I have a "cheat day" (which is what I call it) followed by an intense workout same day or next day, my weight doesn't change much.

If I have a cheat day and then stay sedentary for 2-3 days, I can FEEL it still in me. It seems the cheater food had time to settle into my system and infect me until they get worked out, which now may take a week or two of regular exercising. Maybe this is mental, but it seems I feel weighed down.

For me, When cheating, have the discipline to force it out as quickly as possible.

I usually dismiss pounds as a meaningful reference, preferring waist measurement.

If I am curious, though, I weigh myself 2 or 3 days after either a splurge or fast. Changes in the first 24-48 hours simply reflect hydration, weight or lack thereof of food in your GI tract, etc.

Honestly, it's okay for me to have one once in a while not because you're weak but you also need those things to keep motivated or just a plain reward for all the hard work. One day of relaxation won't ruin your diet completely.

Been focusing a lot on the desserts, got some good ones right here. It's nice to find some healthy treats that won't even damage your diet but you get to enjoy completely.
