How has your paleo lifestyle influenced your life in unexpected ways?

For me, I am filled with a better, more positive attitude, where before I was grumpy all the time. I didn't expect that but it's AWESOME. Being filled with all that good energy spills over into everything I do. Also, it's brought my husband and I closer together, making such a huge lifestyle change.

So, how has your life changed (unexpectedly) from paleo that made you say WOW.

haha! I have a very weird uncle in Portland. How is the employment situation up there? I have a steady job that I'd be hard pressed to replace in Southern California.

I'd say you have to move to Portland if you are not already here.

Awesome - "It's made me weirder" - weird is good.

Quite a big deal for me. Six months of both me and my husband going paleo after we had five pregnancy losses. There's apparently no cause but changing my eating eased my asthma, my IBS and my skin. Oh and I have got to 19 weeks pregnant now despite us thinking that was it for us. One day at a time still and I'm ashamed to say I couldn't eat meat or chicken or green veg for the first trimester. But that six months seems to have changed something and I'm having a miracle baby. Back to paleo for me as soon as my nausea lets up! Who knows what worked but the good fats, the lack of grains and the levelled blood sugars are all likely explanations.

I am happy to be alive :)

I feel so chill all of the time. Not that I wasn't happy-ish and chill-ish before. But I used to get worried and angry and tired and confused by difficult stuff. Now I just breeze through. I feel like I can get through anything.

  • I feel a thousand times better for giving up sugar and wheat, it was easier than I thought, and my skin and hair look amazing.

I started eating paleo to help with my skin issues, GI problems and joint pain. I had a blood test at the doctor's to see if I had celiac, but I came up negative. I did notice that eliminating gluten made me feel better, but since the doc said I didn't have an issue with grains, I started eating them again. About two months ago, after reading up on various anti-inflammatory diets and paleo in particular, I decided to try it. The change has been..awesome! So much more energy, I no longer have the mid-afternoon slump. I've also had eating disorder issues that have followed me for a very long time, but since eating this way, even if I eat high fat foods (which is pretty regular nowadays) I don't feel "fat" and I have no desire to binge or to purge. It's been a great experience for me. I want to move and exercise, and even though my weight is the same, I feel comfortable in my own body for the first time I can remember. I feel stronger and happier, and it's nice to eat whole healthy foods and feel good. So for me, the most surprising influence is that all my eating disordered thoughts seem to go out the window if I eat paleo. I love it :)

More energy, better attitude, a STRONG feeling to get out on hikes more, less weight to carry around. Made my life 110% better altogether!!!

When I talk to my daughter, I stress the inner peace that a proper diet gives you. More energy too. Depression is definitely a disease of civilization.

I think the most unexpected things Paleo gives me is more energy, a clearer head, and a more positive outlook on practically everything.

Like you said, I didn't expect my mood to change so drastically! If anything, I expected to be grumpier haha. Also, it made me more conscious of other aspects of my life that needed improvement. I subconsciously started drinking less, I actually WANT to work out now, and I feel more in tune with myself psychologically in general.

I guess I just pay attention to what my body wants and needs more now, which is great but unexpected!

Carrying a lot less weight gives me the ability to keep up with my kids, almost.
