Why is Paleohacks so afraid of controversy?

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created August 01, 2012 at 4:30 AM

I think a lot of you know what I'm talking about. Provocative questions get branded as 'trolling' or 'argumentative/subjective' - and then get wiped from the site in true North Korean/Iranian/Orwellian fashion. I don't want to single out any moderator in particular, but it seems quite inscrutable that a site devoted to Paleolithic dieting should have such a marked absence of balls.

Just sayin'...

So sound off - while you still can.

Transparency is always a good thing? Absolute statements are always a bad thing... Sorry couldn't help it, but that is just not true.

Disagree regarding the voting. I also don't agree that "testosterone-driven" should be an insult. Downvoting isn't about "scaring" people and if people are actually afraid of someone disagreeing with them on the Internet, they really should step away from their computer.

Retribution is surprisingly common around here. I try to always give a reason for a downvote because otherwise people really don't know why/can't either learn, disagree or defend their post. Several times though I've experienced a rash of unexplained downvotes on bunches of old posts right after that. It's annoying.

Regarding #2: It already takes 5 votes to close for a question to be closed. A mod could close a question on their own, but that generally doesn't seem to happen unless it's 100% spam. I, a non-mod, vote to close fairly often as I think there's a lot of noise on PH.

So, basically you've repeatedly trolled the site, had accounts repeatedly removed for bad behavior, and you're crying "unfair!" Really? You really should find a new hobby, or better yet, an actual job before your mom kicks you out of her basement. I'm guessing years of veganism have shrunk your brain. Seek professional help!

For anyone who is interested this PaleoHipster has made many different accounts here with different user names, posts never ending stupid and usually insulting questions, answers and comments about Jack Kruse of Jimmy Moore and regularly makes unpleasant remarks about one of the moderators here. All of these actions will end up with you getting banned in the end.

Of course. I don't expect this question to stand - at least not once the mods come down from on high and bust heads. Just wanted to get it out there. All these views and so few comments speaks of the general climate here quite well, I think.

For anyone who is interested this PaleoHipster has made many different accounts here with different user names.

They post never ending stupid and usually insulting questions, answers and comments about Jack Kruse and Jimmy Moore.

They also regularly make unpleasant remarks about one of the moderators here.

They also regularly choose user names here that imply they are someone else.

All of these actions will end up with you getting banned in the end.

All of PaleoHipster'a accounts were deleted yesterday after a couple of really rather unpleasant personal comments and yet here they are back again today with yet another new account. PaleoHipster is one of those trolls who just cannot stay way.

  1. Make all voting transparent. (upvotes, downvotes)

  2. Community rule. Meaning if a post isn't fit for consumption it has to be VOTED down to THEN be considered for removal by multiple moderators. (supreme court style).

Without this, paleohacks is a lot less than it could be.

I have not noticed this. I don't even know who the moderators are. I have modded before, and you see the posts differently when you have to do that.

I do want to point out that, as Betty White noted, vaginas are tougher than balls. It makes for a more realistic expression. "Grow a VAG!"
