Unsure what is going on here, and if anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it. I've been paleo for two years. I'm 26, male, have lost 45 lbs, and weight roughly 212. Bench=280, Squat=360, Dead lift= 435, body fat percentage around 19%. I... (more)
I hear a lot of people exercise because of weight, and while that has in past been a challenge for me, I legitimately love endurance racing--running, biking, swimming--and competing in events. I love cardio because I love the way it makes me feel.... (more)
I really hate cardio -- is it necessary for fat loss? How often do you guys do cardio? I do lift heavy full body (heavy for me that is) at least 3x week (sun tues thurs) THen I do a semi HIIT treadmill thingy 2x week (mon and fri) --1 hr long ... (more)
Cardio is not necessary for fat loss, but it will accelerate your results, and make you a healthier person. You can either go the HIIT (high intensity interval training) route or the LISS (low intensity steady state) route....or both. Here is a... (more)
Hi guys I've been on paleo/IF for about a month now, fell off the bandwagon for x'mas and now back on, I'd say clean for about 10 days now. I noticed my skin has improved, my spots are gone and I'm managing 5k runs everyday now. I do my runs... (more)
Ok so I know this is a weird question but am I getting weaker from paleo? I started the whole 30 program ( cutting out sugar, grains and upping protein fats etc..) and one thing I didn???t follow was I stepping on the scale. So far in the past... (more)
Hey all! I have been zoning for a while now, but I am still unsure of my block intake. (Today I Was told I to probably up my fats) I do CrossFit about 6 times a week, and extra cardio 3-5 of those days. I am a woman, 5'3" aout 127-132 pounds... (more)
Hello everyone, I've been doing paleo for about 5 weeks now, and while I don't do much cardio, I'd like to be able to at least run a mile at a good speed. I used to run 2-3 miles 7:00-7:30 pace no prob before paleo, now I can't come close to... (more)
"I'm trying to lose the last bit of fat and havent been eating many carbs." That's your problem. Ever notice that when you eat low carb, your arms and legs begin to feel weak and tingly? It's because they are.
Sometimes in the mornings when my blood sugar is very low I just want to go on a long relaxing run rather than sprints or stairs. I know endurance isn't exactly great exercise but are there any significant benefits? I want to start doing... (more)
one of my closest friends is really into getting spay tans, putting on a bikini, and prancing around in clear stripper heels. :) she asked me to be her cardio buddy. i lawled... she's doing AM and PM cardio, that's two hours total a day. she... (more)
I understand that cardio is largely looked down upon in the PH community but I'm interested to hear from folks who have found that adding some regular cardio to your life has helped you to lean out when just eating a clean diet didn't. I'm a big... (more)
I used to go out dancing three times per week, for at least three hours. I drank copious beers and ate copious pizzas. since beginning primal three years ago, I have swapped dancing for walking and light weights. I have been moderating beer. I've... (more)
Three hours of hard dancing is fantastic exercise. I had heaps of mates who used to stay thin when we were young, I'm sure it was partly because of this. Oh.. and the drugs. Actually, probably the drugs.
I've seen the reports that extreme cardio, especially performed over long periods of time, can be bad for your heart and cortisol levels but I'd like to know where I should draw the line? For example, if I work out for an hour on my rowing... (more)
maybe it's a macho man thing... but I feel like I should buy some dumbells and just do normal workout routines from when I was in high school. A friend loaned us his P90X dvd's and we've been doing them for a short time. I know results can be... (more)
I did P90X with Paleo and LeanGains and saw great results. In the beginning I just used resistance bands because I was traveling alot for work. But then I was able to switch to using adjustable dumbbells and thats when I saw even better results.... (more)
I have been eating Paleo for the past two months and I just can???t seem to make much of a dent in the fat around my mid-section and I really need help. After the first month I saw some reduction, but now at the end of the second month there has... (more)
Been looking to get one of those calcium scores and found a close place. Emailed them and got the following back. Is it a good price and is there some other testing mechanism that'll give me a calcium score for less? Here is what I got emailed... (more)
I'm looking to get into my cardio status in a way that gets past the usual numbers and find out more. I have seen mention made to this calcium scoring thing and that it's not expensive, but I wouldn't know how to go about getting it done. Thanks... (more)
Here's the abstract: It is widely held among the general population and even among health professionals that moderate exercise is a healthy practice but long term high intensity exercise is not. The specific amount of physical activity necessary... (more)
Hi, I am wondering what upper body cardio is good for overall fitness/conditioning. I hear tell that former prison inmantes used to be forced to crank a machine for 8 hours per day in a seated position(it beats typing on a computer). Skipping rope... (more)
I just watched a very interesting Ted talk by Christopher McDougall, author of "Born to Run". Here's the link to the video. (I've also read the book which is very interesting) His whole thing is about barefoot running, but the setup is what I... (more)
There is big difference in hunting 2 times per week (probably different runner every hunt) and resting / low intensity for rest of the time and running 1+ hr 5+ times per week with 8+ hr jobs.
Now that I get my exercise from resistance training and full body movement/complex exercises, is there anything that is not chronic cardio that I can use this treadmill for? I definitely have some body fat to lose, but from what this site says... (more)
If you enjoy watching television, I think the argument could be made that watching television while walking on the treadmill would be better than watching it while sitting on the couch. Walking is always good.
Cardio isn't strictly paleo, but I've got to get to work somehow. I cycle a bit, commuting (at speed) around 20 miles a day. I try to limit my carb intake, generally it's less than 30g (about 6-10% of my daily intake). The rest is split between... (more)
A while back it seems a cute little diet ran into a hunky exercise regime while shopping at the farmer???s market. The two clicked instantly, and have been in bed together ever since. Why is crossfit so popular among the paleo crowd, and vice... (more)
I know Chronic Cardio and Drinking both are not Paleo, but sometimes I like to have a little (or a lot) of fun, I usually lift heavy 3-4x/week, lots of walking, some sprinting. This Saturday I will be going out on a boat and will probably be... (more)
In the past, I have had no issue with exercising and feeling great for the whole day afterwards. I ended up taking almost 4 months off of 'strenuous' exercise (trying to cut out the chronic cardio) after I had a pretty scary hypo like attack and... (more)
Personally, I wouldn't be unable to replete muscle glycogen on such a diet due to the low carbohydrate intake and would have the exact same symptoms. You might try adding in starch and seeing if there's a difference. It worked for me.
Any Good Android Apps Out There for IF/LeanGains macro tracking?
Anyone here not use supplements?
