Yams or bananas for PWO carbs?

I'm following the leangains paradigm, which calls for a high amount of carbs on workout days. Which would be a better source? I currently eat both after finishing my training.

I rely on sweet potatoes and rice on LeanGains PWO.

I eat potatoes (I have a preference for the small heirlooms like purples roasted in the oven) for two meals (dinner and the breakfast before) pre-workout on my heaviest training day.

I usually just have coconut water afterward.

It's seeming to work well for me from a recovery standpoint.

I prefer sweet potatoes for the extra nutrient density over bananas. I do make coconut-banana waffles as a treat some weekends after my longer run, though.

Banana straight after workout, with yams part of the big meal? Or bananas one day, yams another?

Milk and or OJ. Do you do milk? Make a smoothie with super ripe bananas.

Yams are my choice. Glucose with less fructose.

I believe it's about a push either way, but I usually eat bananas after workout. Simply because it's a lot faster and less work when I'm pooped. :) I don't have to cook it for an hour first.

I use both, usually yams for afternoon/evening PWO and bananas for mid-morning PWO. For what it's worth, I find bananas to give me a bit of bloat that goes away in 1-2 hours. If you need a large amount of carbs, a la Leangains, I might also look into tapioca, taro, and rice as PWO options.
