Is there such a thing as the opposite of 'low carb flu'?
I did a Whole30 in January where I averaged about 50g of carbs per day. In the months after that, I went back to my usual 100g carbs per day, with a macronutrient ratio of about 60% fat, 20% carbs, 20% protein, and about 2,000 calories per day. I'm female, 5'5", 110 pounds.
The reason I've been increasing my carb intake is due to budget; pastured meat is very important to me, and that stuff is expensive! I've added in more 'safe starches' like potatoes and rice to bulk up my meals. Now my macronutrient ratios look more like 60% fat, 25% carbs, 15% protein, and around 130g carbs per day.
My question is, can I (or anyone) expect to have a period of adjusting to higher carb intake? What kind of reaction did you have if you increased your carbs?

I just recently went from VLC to VHC and I had no adjustment period. I exercise often and I have felt great with the added carbs.
I went from prob 50g carb of less per day up to 200g carb or more per day. My carbs are basically yams and fruit if that makes any difference. I also tend to blend them often (fruit, not yams) so my body may be able to process better? (I don't know, just throwing that out there).
In the end I have learned that I love yams and fruit and eating them often is fun. My macros look something like 35/35/30 fat/carb/protein

I'm so glad you asked this question because I am going through the same thing. I am at about 40 or less carbs day and would like to end up at about 100-150g. Would either of you mind sharing how you reintroduced carbs and how much water weight to expect gaining from carbs? I know you are supposed to slowly add back fruits, starches, whole grains, dairy, etc. There is supposedly a "rung" of foods to add in order upon adjusting to a higher carb intake according to Atkins. You are supposed to up your carbs by about 5-10g each week experimenting with each of the different food groups. I would like to try to adjust to my goal amount within the next 2 weeks and kind of go off this but am scared to gain water weight. Thanks guys!
