I am having issues with carbs, I feel like maybe something is missing from my diet or something is going on. I started a Primal/Paleo diet exactly a month ago because I have PCOS and possibly insulin resistance. I did develop mild gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter a few years ago, so keeping carbs fairly low is important to me. I have been a huge carb eater my entire life, but in the beginning of the diet change I was doing really well. As long as I ate regularly I had no cravings. I eat about 60ish carbs on non work out days, and 75ish on running days.
This past week though carb cravings are hitting me like a ton of bricks. If I try some fruit or sweet potatoes it just makes the cravings worse. I am really upset with myself because I ate two slices of sandwich bread out of desperation today. Now I have a headache, and my stomach is killing me. I am confused why my body is craving carbs so bad, but when I give in things just get worse. I feel like I am getting enough fat and protein my ratios on average are roughly 25% carbs 25% protein and 50% fat. I am not overweight but I do think I might have gained a couple of pounds in my stomach since the new diet although I feel so much better. Maybe I am getting too much fat?
