Other sources of carbs

I would think a person would get tired of eating sweet potatoes every day for carbs. What other sources have any one of you used for carbs?

glucose isn't exactly equal to carbs (in fact, proteins are carbohydrate compounds)- and fructose is curiously missing from the conversation. You are correct that fat and proteins are less "efficient" method of obtaining energy, however, they are also moderated in their effects due exactly to that.

Not needed? worst BS ever. Glucose is the fuel your body runs on whether you want it or not. Even if you are forcing your body to produce it by breaking down fat and protein tissues, which is a far less efficient plan B

Parsnips. For me, they're like a cross between carrots and potatoes.

They're "terrified" of it? Or they don't consider it the best choice in their particular situation?

Yeah, I don't do fruit unless seasonal. Plantains/bananas don't count as I'll never get them seasonally where I live.

Fruit. People are terrified of fruit for no good reason.

Squash, parsnip, beets, Sunchokes, turnips, rutabaga. I do eat fruit, but not much. I'm just not a fruit person, I always preferred veggies. But once in awhile I have an apple, or pear.

I rotate between sweet potato, cassava, tarro, plantains, winter squash and parsnips. I can particularly recommend cassava!

Rotate sweet potatoes with white potatoes and plantains. Parsnips are good too. Rice works if you do safe starches. Heck, I like corn masa on occasion as well (Gooooooo Mexipaleo!)

none. Not actually a nutrient and not actually needed.

I eat some occasional berries and vegetables and obviously get some there, but i never target carbs as a nutrient I need.

Fruit! I'm getting most of my carbs from oranges, bananas, dates, and frozen berries right now.

this might give you an idea as to why you should be having a different variety of carbs as well as some other options which some might feel arent allowable. However i think many are changing their ideas and experimenting with trying to add some "safe starches" back into their diets with much improved satiety and overall well being because of it.

Fruit.. I generally eat 2 bananas a day. I also eat a fair amount of clementine's, apples when they're seasonal in my area.

Other starches--White potatoes, white rice, some brown rice products such as pasta, rice pasta for Asian meals, tapioca.

It really depends on your level of "purity," the purists obviously don't eat most of this stuff listed.. for some reason sweet potatoes have been deemed acceptable, but not white potatoes. It is odd. If you're a purist you might be doomed to sweet pots!

I just LOVE plantain! :) I have to be careful how much I eat because it puts the weight on me if I over-do it, but as a little treat occasionally, fried plantain is amazing! Nom!
