hungry for carbs after workout

i did a 30 hour fast yesterday along with the "murph" WOD with a weight vest on, after that i ate a half a watermelon, a 4 cups of black beans and corn, and 7 egg whites. then i had a second workout with the delayed entry program of the marine corp( which was similiar to crossfit, except more running with weights, and more calistenics)and ate 2 chicken breasts when i got home. now today i finished a 15 hour fast, and im hungry, and all i want to eat is carbs, whats the deal with my body reacting this way?

...and for fat; butter, coconut oil, olive oil, etc. No veg oil or soybean oils!! Too much omega-6. Have you read the Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf? That would be helpful for you, good luck! XO

oh, I see! Think about adding in lots of greens; spinach, mesclun, romaine with lots of raw veg. Steamed broccoli, carrots, tomato, red peppers, etc.

A lot of people do that, but 7 egg whites is a lot. Avidin is a biotin binding compound in egg whites. Without the yolk you're getting the antinutrient without the nutrient. Cooking reduces avidin, but not completely.

Muscles are glycogen deprived. Eat something starchy. Potatoes etc.

Where's the fat in all your food intake? I'd be ravenous if I ate what you are eating and working out like that. If you eat some sweet potatoes, add about a half a stick of kerry gold! :-)

You're gonna have to up your carbs if you're plan on doing 2 hard workouts in 1 day. Watermelon is high in fructose, beans in fiber & does corn really get digested? Not much glucose turnover IMO You should include some root, tubers, startchy vegetables, white rice or/and higher glucose fruits. That should help fuel your glycolitic demanding workouts & keep you sane during your fast.

PS. Some fatty meats might help with the cravings

Why just the eggs whites? You need more fat and carbs as well!

This level of workout would probably require some carbs, yes. Sounds like you're not quite fat-adapted yet, perhaps. Hard to say, though. Why beans and corn? Why not whole eggs? Sounds like you aren't exactly into the whole "paleo" thing...

Did you prepare your own post-WOD food for all of this? Or was it the only thing available?

More fat. Probably more safe carbs. Whole eggs. No beans and corn.

I agree, beans and corn aren't Paleo, I'd ditch those. Eat whole eggs, add in healthy fat, eat sweet potato post work out.
