Grams of Carbs per day on Scd/Gaps Diet?

I'm interested in incorporating the Scd/Gaps protocol into my paleo diet. I've read both Breaking the Viscous Cycle and Gut and Psychology Syndrome. The 2 books had tons of info but there seems to be one thing that was not discussed or I missed somehow.

How many total carbs are supposed to be eaten on those diets. They talk if decreasing the more complex sugars and trying to get more simple sugars like glucose. But never advice a certain gram range per day or even if it is a low carb diet or weather a lot of simple carbs are bad.

I'd assume lower carb would be better for starving pathogenic bacteria but I'm still unclear on how I should structure the diet carbwise.

If anyone could shed some light on the carb issue or provide any other input I'd greatly appreciate it.

I think it's more about the type of carbs, not about the amount.

SCD does not limit carbohydrate intake unless you are early in your journey and cannot tolerate them. If you're reading BTVC, then you'll notice subtle phrases like 'go easy on the honey', etc. but never an explicit directive to limit carbohydrates.

GAPS, on the other hand, limits carbohydrate intake early on in the diet and as improvements are seen in digestive symptoms, allows the incorporation of fresh fruits and honey into the diet, albeit fairly slowly.

As someone who is very familiar with the premises of both diets, I wholeheartedly recommend going slow with the carbohydrates for awhile. People I know on either of the two diets have had more success with this approach. That's not to say there aren't cases of success without the limitation of carbohydrates, but it may take longer and the road may be a bit rougher. If you're on this site, then you must know that there are significant benefits to limiting carbohydrate intake, regardless of what approach you use to do so. Obviously your choice, but incorporating WAPF/Paleo principles into SCD/GAPS has made all the difference in the world to my success.
