Did you find that low carb came with unpleasant symptoms? How long after you added carbs back did you start feeling better?

I have been having low blood pressure and have been feeling lightheaded for a couple weeks so I added carbs back to my diet.. I believe I went from about 50g per day to anywhere from 80 to 125. But the symptoms have only gotten a little better. So ow I'm wondering- Did you find that low carb came with unpleasant symptoms? How long after you added carbs back did you start feeling better? (that's the main one I want to know.) And, did you up your carbs alot more in the beginning and then lower them a little after you fixed the problem?

This striving for perfect health thing seems to be taking me way longer then I was hoping! I believe though, that this is the last step. I appreciate your feedback!

@Sayeds, after I started drinking orange juice and tea with sugar (which I didn't drink for around 10 years), results were pretty quick. Mood and energy improved in a matter of days.

@Colin, thanks for correction, I should have said "not necessarily paleo and healthy"

days. not that long. your body does have to adjust to digesting them again though, so a bit of bloating at the outset is not unlikely.

That's for my carbs cause I heard that the carbs in most veggies are just fiber. I eat many other veggies in a day also.

I was very low carb for about 6 months then bumped them up a bit. It took about 3 weeks for my system to adjust and settle down. I feel like I have found a sweet spot. Some days I still go very low carb.

"Not Paleo and not healthy".......debatable. Seems to depend on the individual and unless you think we were cooking two million years ago I would say LC was common in the paleolithic. I agree that a higher carb intake is beneficial, for it's own reasons.

Oh yes, even when I get enough fats in my meals, I very often while in VLC feel weak, tired, hazy, dizzy, woozy, cranky, headachy, and miserable >:(

I stayed low-carb for a few months. While I had no problems in terms of hunger, my GI wasn't feeling that good and other symptoms like insomnia (which I've been suffering for many years) worsened.

So, after reading the PDH by the Jaminets, I added yams. I eat them (almost everyday), at the same time I reduced to the minimum veggies (irritating and and bloating my gut). Since the beginning I started to feel better, good energy and above all I finally slept at night.

Yams are always on my the table.

I see that many people feel good with low-carb diets. In my case, I believe it wasn't a smart decision because my adrenal glands didn't function well for a long time. But like others suggest, it's good to listen to your body first and adjust your diet accordingly.

i did very low carb for 8 months, until i just couldn't do it anymore. i'm stubborn though, and that was stupid.

it does not work for everyone; do not force it. i eat anywhere from 75 to 200 grams per day (rough estimate), and that works nicely.

Look into works of Paul Jaminet and Ray Peat. Low carb is not paleo and not healthy. I had all kinds of problems after going low carb. Now I am feeling much better in all aspects eating around 150 grams of carbs per day, avoiding all seeds and seed based products (with a rare exception)

I have heard that when one goes low-carb, that they need to increase their sodium intake..
