Blood sugar observations, cognitive dissonance, and analysis

Observation. I bought a blood glucose meter and tested my levels after playing two indoor soccer games. Level was 150+ mg/dL. Replicated this on another night and got 170+ mg/dL. I documented this on Paleohacks months ago, seeking an explanation. (Liver dumping sugar into blood to feed glycogen-depleted muscles?) Fasting levels are in the 80s.

Cognitive Dissonance. Tried eating some sweet potatoes drenched in duck fat with a glass of wine. Level was less than 110. Replicated this and got about the same result.

Conclusion: I need to quit playing soccer.

Feel free to share your own observations, analysis, and/or your own random bit of cognitive dissonance.

P.S., here's another one to agitate and incite--I cured my IBS by nuking my guts with multiple treatments of amoxicillin and rifaximin (antibiotics) AND by only eating meat for eight months. This is not how they draw it up, but it worked for me...

Love it. I had to eliminate all fiber from my diet to clear up my SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth); one of the reasons I did multiple courses of antibiotics was because I tried to add in fiber (and also probiotics). This would always set me back and I would have to reset.

Correct. I was ultra super low carb when I took the readings post-soccer. It would be interesting to see how things have changed since sweet potatoes with duck fat became part of my post game ritual.

So, when you got the ultra high bg readings after exercise you were low carb? I guess you gotta eat sugar to burn sugar? This is something I've been thinking on anyway. This is a great post!

Eating cheese keeps me regular.
Eating the RDA of fiber keeps me irregular.
