Best diet for diabetes AND candida?

Hi-

So I'm 20, and I have both T2 diabetes and candida after a lifetime of REALLY bad diet (2 gallons of soda daily, pizza hut everyday, etc.)

I'm ready to go paleo and have eating cleanly since monday.

My dilemma is how to balance carb intake to treat both candida and diabetes.I know ketogenic diets are best for diabetes, but ketosis makes candida worse so I have to keep my carbs high enough to avoid ketosis until the candida is gone.

I'm getting all of my carbs from sweet potato, squash, red cabbage, veggies, etc, and im cutting out all junk and processed foods, and obviously all grains and dairies....so i must be making my diabetes better than it was before, right? even if im not carb free, I'm still eating much better carbs, much less of them, and no extra sugary junk.

what should my diet look like right now?

roth, are you sure? ive read a few anecdotes on the topic from people who said they only say improvements in candida when adding more carbs to their VLC diet. paul jaminet makes quite a good case

There's some bullshit theory that ketones can feed candida albicans.

You are asking US if you are making your diabetes better? Don't you know the status of your blood sugar? As you clean up your diet, you should be testing your blood sugar after every meal for a while to see how different foods affect your levels. Sweet potatoes, for example, really spike my blood sugar but blueberries do not. Everyone is different. I would say to eat real food and test test test. Candida feeds off of sugar so if you can get your blood sugar under control, you will go a LONG way towards addressing these two issues. Good luck!

I have a tip you probably won't want to hear, but here goes. Along with your paleo diet, you should do a parasite cleanse. In my health circle, diabetes is thought to be caused by a pancreatic fluke. Kill the fluke, your body will restore its balance. Sorry to be the bearer of icky news, but its a relatively ez fix. Wormwood, Clove, and Black Walnut Hull... you can get it from most health food stores. I prefer the brand name Kroger, as they put other helpful ingredients in their formula and they use quality ingredients. Please feel free to disregard, I'm sure you weren't expecting that answer. Keep up the good work with your diet and get rid of all soda. Limit yourself Water, coconut water, fresh juices, almond milk, coffee, and tea. Good luck.

Eliminate starch. You will be unable to eradicate candida with that form of sugar in your diet. A ketogenic diet is highly acidic however I'm not aware of any means by which it would perpetuate candida overgrowth. Get your carbs from non-starchy vegetables only. Obtain Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates and get started with the cultured foods. Best of luck.
