No success with treating Candida

I have had Candida since Antibiotic use in pregnancy. I was given ABs 3 times for a bladder infection. Each time it resulted into a vaginal yeast infection. Also dry skin (from candida) grew on many places of my body.

I did not know it was yeast until I figured it out myself spring 2013. Antifungal creams keep the skin problems under control, but my digestion isn't doing well. I don't respond to anti fungal medications and my digestion is worsening fast. I am hardly able to digest any foods. I lack pretty much every nutrient imaginable and my hair has been falling out for years.

I tried different diets....first low carb/ Candida Diet, which actually worsened my problems! I had a mild case of Candida before eating LC. Later I tried an all raw fruit diet with only a few veggies and my Candida bloomed even more. For the most part I have been Paleo with a moderate Carb intake. I also have been having phases of eating potatoes with butter to get my weight up to a somewhat healthy range. Without it I will starve away.

It is getting to the point where the symptoms of Candida are so severe that I can't function in day to day life or take care of my kid. The pains, the brain fog, the bloating, the cramps and nausea after eating. I am unable to work at the moment.

Restoring the gut flora with Enzymes, Probiotics or even HCl has been unsuccessful. Doctors are unable to help. I have lots of damage to my intestinal tract as well as cysts.

I am really worried I will eventually die of Candida. So if anyone has information I haven't come across, please share!

You say you do not respond to anti-fungal medication. You likely get reinfected quickly because the underlying issue is not being addressed.

Reread what you wrote you'll discover what candida is a symptom of.

Protein: 2-4 eggs, and all types of meat. Though I digest raw and cured meats much better.

Fat: Butter (Grassfed), about 1/4 block a day.

Veggies/ Fruits: Mostly carrot, zucchini, tomato , paprika, banana, apples, berries, brokkoli, cauliflower...others too, but it varies.

A big part of my calories came from potatoes. I ate about 5 small ones during a day.

I ate liver wurst for some time (liver and meat) but liver isn't a staple food. I tried it and found it gross.

It was diagnosed by stool tests. It is pretty severe and far from a normal amount. The medications I mentioned are prescription medications.

As far as I understand from Candida websites, Candida isn't necessarily a symptom and common to make an entrance after use of antibiotics. During pregnancy the immune system is also weaker which is why all sorts of fungal problems are so common then.

I don't really know in your case because I am not a doctor.

However, I was diagnosed as a chronic candida carrier (blood and stool testing), but my blood test for candida came back normal after my doctor's treatment. For treatment he prescribed something very severe, I refused, and we both agreed on nystatin in the end. I took it for a long time, do not remember for how long now.

I agree with Matt on this one that you might have other issues that you are unaware of. You need to be diagnosed by a reputable doctor with a lot of experience and get tested (you might want to consider independent testing) to make sure you don't have other issues going on. There are many advanced tests right now on the market that will give you an idea what might be the cause of your malaise. If you have any gastro-intestinal problems, get tested for SIBO (hydrogen-methane lactulose).

In the meantime I suggest: 1. strict autoimmune Paleo for 8 weeks 2. NO FRUIT 3. herbals that fight candida (they did not work for me but they might work for you).

A friend of mine was taking herbal medicine for candida, she was able to get it lowered to +1 (genova testing lab), but not eliminated because she had non-glutenous grains on a daily basis.

try increasing your intake of VCO as it is antifungal. Black walnut bark and olive leaf extract will also help fighting the yeast.

Probiotica with Soil Based Organism plus enough fibers of all kind (Resistent starch, inulin, xanthan, oilgosachharides....)will help you further building a healthy gut flora

you haven't mentioned your protein or fat sources... What are they? Is liver part of your regular diet? Do you consume nutrient rich fruits and vegetables?

Candida is a very trendy diagnosis, are you sure you have it? Everything and the kitchen sink gets blamed on Candida, we all harbour Candida to some degree even, so forgive me if I'm weary of self-diagnoses. Certainly I do not doubt you are having issues with general malaise and that you may have some fungal infection of the skin that respond to anti-fungals. But do consider that fungal infections are a symptom of a larger problem.
