Binge eating and diflucan for candida

Many alternative medicine folks talks about Candida causing cravings. Wouldn't killing fungus with drugs stop the cravings?

Have you seen binge eaters stop binging after taking difulcan or other medications for candida?

I don't think I made any distinctions about when I took the diflucan, so assume that it doesn't matter when it comes to results. It's very hard to control those sorts of things and also come out having consistently taken your dosages every day when you have a newborn.

Hey did you take it on an empty stomach or with meal? I just got a hold of some diflucan 150mg and i have some candida/fungus problem with low stomach HCL and frequently experience brain fog. I hope to experience the same improvements as you :)

+1 bazillion, great question. My relationship with foods I thought I could never live without, and tended to munch on mindlessly changed drastically after some very intensive candida specific probiotic treatments. I bet Diflucan plus probiotics would have been even more effective.

I can only answer from my own perspective, having done a 1-month course of diflucan after not responding to nystatin.

Killing the yeast in my body DEFINITELY changed my cravings for certain foods (I no longer had any attraction medjool dates, for example).

It also improved my digestion a great deal, and gave me the ability to focus. This was while I was first establishing breastfeeding with my newborn, so I basically went from a state of CONSTANT brain-fog into a state where I could use my brain again. The difference was night and day.

(You can see it in my Lumosity scores actually, a sharp uptick in the number of games I am able to play over the course of the weeks I was on diflucan. When I started playing Lumosity I didn't have the attention span for more than 2 games.)

IMHO it's definitely worth going through a course of diflucan, especially if you have taken a lot of antibiotics in the past. You can pair it with probiotics and they should theoretically "take" a lot better than usual.

I know I got very tangential in my answer, as you were specifically asking about cravings, but the effects of yeast overgrowth are so far-reaching!

If you kill the candida it should help the cravings, but keep in mind that it will fight to stay alive. If you are eating anything that will feed it ie sugar, yeast, alcohol it takes a lot longer to kill it even with drugs. My natropath says if you have a vaginal yeast infection that is the last place it will show up, it's already in your intentional system. As it dies off the cravings get stronger as it fights to stay alive. Try something like the yeast busters (from a health food store) to kill it. It may come back too, I did a yeast cleanse 11 yrs ago and am doing it again. Good luck!
