Soy = Breast cancer?

I love soybeans and tofu (although I'm not sure if tofu is okay on the paleo diet). I don't want to lose weight, just be healthy and I definitely wouldn't mind if soy made me gain weight more femininely!

But two questions:

1.) Does soy interefere with the birth control pill? 2.) Does soy cause breast cancer? Or is my risk cut so drastically by not eating processed foods, that soy wouldn't make a huge difference?

I lied. I'm on David Asprey's site, bulletproofexec.com and edamame has been linked to estrogen issues in people. I take back what I said about it, even if it is organic. Linky-poo: http://www.bulletproofexec.com/steve-jobs-dr-dean-ornish-and-vegetarian-cancer/ It's in one of his comments.

Organic edamame is fine.

What about actual soybeans? I am wary of anything processed, but are soybeans okay?

Not really the answer that you are looking for...but...I wont touch soy with a ten foot pole. I dont even want the animals that I am eating, to eat soy. NOT paleo! I used to love to eat tofu. I will never eat it again!

Okay, shameless advertising, but I'm going to plug my blog here. I wrote an extensive post on soy a while back, all researched from MDA, WAPF, etc:

http://primalpat.com/2012/04/12/random-health-prattle-and-why-oh-why-are-you-eating-soy-food-products/

There's a reason women are told to completely stop consuming soy ANYTHING when they have breast cancer. It's also why they're given estrogen-blocking meds. Soy is also GMO, and laced with aluminum.

Some fermented soy is okay in moderation, but I won't touch it still. And I used to LURRRRRVE soy milk, soy protein powder, and dessert tofu (almond flavoured). That was many moons ago.

Extreme vegetarians would have you believe that Asians are scarfing pounds of soy products per day, but that's not the case. It's used as a condiment; and their traditional diet is rich in all manner of skin, blood, bone broth, organs, fish and fermented foods.
