Does everything give you cancer? How do I even function?

I'm a little frustrated because it seems everything gives you cancer. I am doing paleo really well. I'm eating tons of organic vegetables and high quality fish and chicken, and I'm paying a premium for it. I dont eat any sugar other than a treat of maple syrup and coconut flour waffles once every week or two.

I started a witch hunt in my lifestyle for BPA, buying glass and BPA free plastics. But now all plastics seem to be bad. I can't even buy an electric kettle without being told to worry about the lid being plastic, although it is BPA free.

My God, I am going to get cancer just from the stress of preventing cancer. I took comfort in an article that journals decades of research indicating glucose is the main driver of all cancers, as it feeds cancer cells and allows them to multiply.

How much do you guys worry about cancer being in everything? Is it just a lot of junk science and journalistic anarchy?

Agree with Michael. Some simple things one can do:

1) have your food in glass containers only (I do freeze bone broth in plastic)

2) no GMO

3) only tiles and concrete in your home

4) keep a healthy gut

Our western world has many fantastic luxuries, but there is an elevated risk of cancer. ??You can reduce your risk by doing some big things, like eating well, not smoking, avoiding heating food in plastic, etc. ??By doing those simple things, you're ahead of most westerners. ??Good enough. ??To reduce your risk down to hunter-gatherer levels you might have to do 100 other neurotic things which would ruin your life and probably ruin your health too from the additional stress. ??

I, too, worry about coming into contact with cancer causing agents and toxins in general. But, the reality is we cannot get away from them completely. Limiting our contact with them is key, and you are already doing that. I also take a chlorella supplement every day. Chlorella is an awesome detoxifying agent as well as a great source of B vitamins and protein. As a detoxifyer, chlorella binds to heavy metals, pesticides, and other wastes and then eliminates them from our bodies. My favorite is Perfect Chlorella because the company is very conscientious and theirs is organic and fair trade certified. Check it out here.

Also, try not to worry so much, it is very bad for your health. Do what you can to minimize and eliminate them from your body and you are on the right track. Peace!

Many ancestral populations are cancer free or near cancer free. Of course paleo theory does not account for the vast effects of our gut flora, but if you eat well and have a good flora, you will be fine.

Please cite your article. Glucose might feed cancer but it also feeds all healthy cells.

See if you can find some research on stress causing cancer. And stay away from rat studies....

Thanks. There are more than a few leaps of faith in the article. Inferring that if glucose reduction helps depress one obscure form of cancer it will help with all others is a pretty big stretch. Also, that glucose reduction suppressing growth of existing RCC tumors makes that a panacea to prevent RCC tumors from occurring. I wouldn't use this article as a reason to eliminate carbs from the diet. If you already have cancer it COULD be relevant, but a personal physician  gives better advice than internet articles

Just because 1 person in 1,000,000 will get cancer normally and consuming??substance X causes that to double or tripple, doesn't mean you personally will??actually get cancer, or that that while your odds have increased to double or tripple the original size that you're actually far more likely to get cancer.
