Did Paleo reduce your snoring? Hack why it would.

Here is a study that links snoring to a 5x cancer increase.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9278214/Snoring-can-raise-cancer-risk-five-fold.html

Switching to Paleo/primal stopped my snoring after a life of it. 14-years of marriage and my wife is getting peaceful sleep! But after this study LINKING cancer and snoring, I feel even better about Paleo for one more reason.

What was fixed by Paleo that my snoring got better?

You don't need a sleep study to know your spouse periodically stops breathing at night.

Why do I need a sleep study when I have a husband who sleeps next to me and can hear the difference big time?

Inflammation is what I lean towards because the snoring stopped long before the weight came completely off. 30 days and 10 lbs down and the snoring was over.

I put some dairy back in in the form of some cheeses and kefir. Snoring didn't return after I brought those dairy products back.

Me too instantly when I went VLC. I used to be ashamed to nod off on aeroplanes, now I sleep through the night.

The tissues in your throat can be fatter, so losing over can lose there, and thus the openings are bigger for air to flow more freely. One possibility.

I did lose about 30-35 lbs., going from 175 to 140, back to my high school weight. Though everyone who knows me can tell I lost weight, I was never thought of as overweight. I still wonder if whatever was influencing the weight gain was influencing the snoring, like inflammation or leaky gut or some vitamin deficiency.

Both my partner and I stopped snoring when we stopped all grains. I'm not sure how long it took for us to notice. Sleep is much much better now with no waking up for no reason events, which used to be frequent. When we added non-gluten grains, the snoring did not come back.

+1 for the losing weight, or potentially building muscle and reducing body fat. Obesity and snoring go hand in hand.

When I stopped eating wheat/gluten,my snoring stopped. I assume it is from a decrease in inflammation.

Sleep apnea and snoring can both be reduced by reductions in inflammation in the nose and throat as well as weight loss.

I had sleep apnea before Paleo, and I still had a few instances of sleep apnea in the first 3 months of Paleo. But since then (I'm on Paleo 9 months now), I don't anymore. Paleo took care of it.

Nope, still snore, still use my CPAP machine. Down 52 lbs in tad over 3 months paleo. Probably need another 50 lbs or so before I'll even consider ditching the machine (I sleep GREAT hooked up to that bad boy, lol). I'm a large stocky/muscular guy though with "no neck" in the traditional sense (bless my Mexican mother as that runs on her side of the family, a the uncles have little to no neck and are very stocky/solid guys). Great body for intimidation/strength factor, but that's all, lol!!!

I would say dairy, but you said primal, so perhaps you still eat dairy? I would imagine that lots of mucus could contribute to snoring. A friend was just telling me during allergy season, he doesn't drink as much, because drinking increases his snoring and between that and allergies he's miserable.

The husband used to snore, a LOT. And wake me up or keep me from falling asleep.

My husband still snores sometimes, but rarely will he wake me up now with it :D Whether or not it is because he stopped eating the grains or because he lost the weight, it doesn't matter. Something is working and that's all that matters.

I threw out my CPAP machine and only require 6 hours of sleep to feel rested as opposed to sleeping 8-9 hours and feeling like crap.
