Read your daily diet last night. You're a beast, Miked! Since I couldn't figure out how to contact you, this was the only way to follow up. A few questions.
Is 5,000 cal maintenance, or can you lose on that?
Are you buff?/At ideal weight?
What exercise do you do? Would you be able to eat how you eat WITHOUT, a la Asprey, exercise?
Gotta know, man! : )

5000 cals is basically maintenance for me. Based on stress, sleep, whether or not I'm overtraining, I can be anywhere between 175 and 185 on a given day.
I don't quantify being buff or at an ideal weight. I'm happy with how I look, feel, and perform. I can see my abs, I'm really strong for my size, I can do the activities I want to do. I don't believe in watching numbers for anything (weight, body fat %, etc).
I totally admit to overtraining in my exercise. It's not ideal and I do lean out when I take a break from it, but I have so many things I like to do that I just do them. I know it would be better for my health to cut back, so don't take this as a prescription of what you should do: I do crossfitesque short (<10 min) heavy metcons 6 times a week, heavy lifting 4 times a week, rock climbing 2 times a week, and a long hike once a week.
I could eat how I do without exercising, if you add up my extra calorie burn from the exercise it's not very much. I just do that because it's fun.
