Where do you draw the Paleo line?

Not necessarily related to food (though it can be) but your overall Paleo lifestyle - where do you draw the line when things are "too Paleo" for you.

Obviously we all have to live in 2012 (or 2013 if you want to look ahead), so many of us have desk jobs, cars, shoes, etc, that help us to survive, but many people on PH have adopted more "archaic" means of surviving.

For example, I recently went "no 'poo" and threw out my face wash and use honey instead, but I'm not going to be throwing away my makeup anytime soon.

This popped into my head when I thought of how I'll pick food up off the floor and eat it because I'm not a germ freak, but I'm certainly not dumpster diving anytime soon.

Can anyone think of some examples from your own life where you've said "well that's just TOO Paleo for me".

So far just a less-processed formula, not the whole-hog baking soda or "nothing" solution. I use Tom's fluoride-free varieties. I bought it when trying to figure out just what the heck was actually reality in the fluoride/antifluoride camps (note, I still haven't figured it out).

all that new-found electricity watcha-jizits are for slackers. 100% Paleo means no electricity. But those torch lamps from Ikea are great to hold the fire in!

I love my pillow top mattress, with an extra memory pad on top of it!!! But I do love camping as well; I love being outside sleeping under the stars!

haha, I love camping, and when I do I sleep with nothing but the tent and my bag between me and the earth..... But when I am at home, I want comfort -- and I have never slept better than with my current mattress!

Nothing is too paleo for me. I go out side stark naked to sharpen a stick so I can scrounge up some dinner.

You can contact me via the Fairfax County Jail...

I've only integrated the Paleo diet and fitness ideas to my life, haven't tried any Paleo skincare or the like. That stuff isn't important to me at this point. My acne has reduced itself significantly just by the diet change, so I'm just letting my body sort it out.

I am a newbie, and I've began integrating my life to a Paleo lifestyle, including, diet, fitness, sleep etc. But I am still learning everyday.

Well I love buying organic and more enviromentally friendly products for skincare, hair, make-up, etc. And I love integrating natural remedies for my skin issues into my daily routine such as coconut oil and honey for my skin. However, I will not stop buying razors... I don't literally want to look like a Cavewoman! I love my smooth shaved legs and various other body parts!

I shower often with soap, shampoo and condition my hair every week, I wear makeup and lotion and perfume, I dye my hair, I drive a car, I wear shoes with heels and I don't skimp on the clothes.

As opposed to all the no-poo, reduced showers, no makeup, braless and commando in not much clothing, barefoot stuff that I hear so much about.

I make my own mayo and toothpaste, and have been no shampoo or conditioner for years (use baking soda and vinegar, and it leaves my hair softer), BUT I am a sucker for great smelling lotion! So I guess that is my one indulgence. I do wonder though about experimenting with sleeping on my sun porch in the cold, bundled up of course -- I love sleeping in really cold weather, all snug in a warm sleeping bag -- I feel like I get a great night's sleep. What else? I do try to have more outside time in general now, and I have read about the Squatty Potty, and that makes sense to me, so I might try that. I'm always open to new ideas about different ways to do things. :)

If we limit the discussion to "stuff you put in or on your body".... then I have yet to give up standard antiperspirants. Oh and clothes. ;-)

Most of the rest was easy - toothpaste, shampoo (use castille soap for everything), lotions, etc. I never have worn makeup, so that was a non-issue.

Well I am vegan so I guess one of the most basic tenets of paleo, eating meat, is too paleo for me!

I still take a hot shower at least every second day, though I understand that this is bad for the skin, depletes essential oils and such. Bit of a hygiene freak, I suppose. I tried to do no poo but felt horrible. Now I use shampoo and an organic conditioner about once a week.
