Is there a practical/known risk to occasional BCAA use when nursing a toddler?
Created December 22, 2011 at 6:56 PM
I recently ordered some BCAA to use in conjunction with occasional heavy lifting days (meaning I'd be probably consuming one serving once or twice weekly).
I didn't see any indicator in the product info on the retailer's site about contraindications, but when the BCAA arrived it said on the package that it shouldn't be used by pregnant or nursing mothers.
I wouldn't consume BCAA while pregnant (that is kind of a duh one to me), but I'm still nursing my just-turned-two-year-old regularly throughout the day. Is the BCAA just covering its bases, or is there a real / known risk to consuming BCAA while nursing a toddler?

Have you checked on Kellymom? Here is the link. There is another site that I can't remember, but I will try to find a link for you. http://www.kellymom.com/health/index.html
Nope, nothing I've found on Kelly Mom. They're usually a primary resource for me, too! Love the site.
Hmmm.. I just punched it in to lactmed, and nothing there either. http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/search Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hope you find your answers, and great job feeding your 2 year old! Mine is 18 mos, and no end in sight. ;)
Hi! I'm curious if you ended up choosing to take the BCAAs? I have a 21 month old and I'd like to take them but there is no info online.
thanks!!!
