Is what I'm eating for breakfast ok?

Hello, everyday I have a banana smoothie, made up of yogurt, one small banana and a bit of milk, with half an avocado. I have been on the diet for a week and haven't lost any weight though. I'm wondering if this is the reason? Every other meal I get out of the Real Meal Revolution book, so I'm guessing that's fine.

Bananas are one of the highest in sugar fruits out there! If you want a fruit smoothie in the AM, you should try using berries... And I would use EITHER milk OR yogurt, not both. The avocado is a great addition though!

As the above posts have said; drop the sugar in favour of protein and vegetables.

Add to that some exercise such as weight training a few times a week.

Keep that up with a sound diet and the weight will shift.

You're basically eating sugar and fat for breakfast which isnt helping you loose weight. You need to stick to a protein and fat breakfast and you'll start to see improvements.

Try bacon and eggs!

The reason you're not losing weight, is because you've been dieting for only 1 week. You might lose 1 pound per week, on a good week. If you have 20-30 pounds to lose, plan on 6 months, at least.

Calories do matter, even on a paleo diet. That shake you're consuming for breakfast is probably 500 calories or more. Liquid calories that don't do much for satiety. Eat some solid food for breakfast.

Milk? Yogurt? Bananas? You're never going to lose weight like that. You're basically eating a bunch of sugar and dairy. Drop the shake.

Eat some real food like fish/beef/poultry with a side of vegetables (like broccoli, spinach, collards, brussel sprouts, etc) and some non-sugary fruits (like tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers, etc). Don't forget to drizzle some olive oil on there too.

By the way, your other meals could be the problem as well so don't rule them out.

Stop looking at your scale. Take pictures and tape measurements to compare your changes instead.

Think of this as a lifestyle change and not a diet.

Your breakfast sounds alright if you know you tolerate dairy well. That avocado is great. I'd rather see the avocado with an egg or some meat or something but that's probably just me. It could be a little carb heavy depending on what the rest of your meals look like throughout the day and where you are at health wise.

If you follow an otherwise Paleo diet, do body weight or weight workouts, eat enough calories for your body, you should be fine.
