20 year old, no sexdrive, problems with concentrating and mental clarity

Hi,

Around a year ago i woke up and felt empty like something was missing. Usually i would wake up feeling slightly stressed but i felt hormonally blank. Since that occured i had trouble sleeping, i also had no desire to do anything. I went out with a girl, but couldnt think of anything to say, and felt like i had no desire to say anything. I felt like i wasn't mentally reacting with my environment. Before this i was highly motivated and creative. I feel like i dont care about anything anymore.

I was smoking cannabis for about a year excessively before this happened, and started to smoke it everday after although i have now stopped and havent smoked for the last week and a half.

I have experienced what i believe is erectile dysfunction where i have had problems with holding urine, and also muscle weakness.

Its got to the point where i am starting to forget what it is like to think and feel normally.

I went to the doctors and told them about this, i asked them to do tests for testosterone which came back normal it was around 800 ng/dl total testosterone. I then told the doctor about free testosterone which he knew nothing about, he said there is only total testosterone and said i was depressed. I decided to have a test done privately although i could only get an SHBG test, My Shbg came back as high, the results were:

75 nMol/L on a scale of 11-52

I told my doctor about this, and he ordered a free androgen index test which is a combination of total test and shbg. I was waiting for 2 weeks and they then told me the test got LOST. so i am now going to have to start again.

Little things like booking a doctors appointment became difficult, i kept telling myself ill do it tommorow having little desire to even go to the doctors.

Some other symptoms:

  • Hot flushes when it first occured.
  • Excessively sweating (hands/feet only)
  • I don't feel fully rested when i wake
  • Memory problems
  • Lack of mental clarity
  • Light headed when eating food ( havent experienced in a while )
  • Lack of Energy*

Also around winter time there was moments where i would stare blankly and couldn't think correctly i can remember standing for hours. I also got a job for a couple of months but i couldn't concentrate at all and i also kept making stupid mistakes such as accidental cutting myself.

I have looked into high shbg and have seen that it can be caused by throid problems and also that vitamin d reduces shbg.

Any help is appreciated highly. ANY help at all. Thank you.

Ashley.

It is quite possible that i have a vitamin d deficiency, although i have supplemented with it in the past and am currently supplementing with 4000 U/I a day. I spent most of my teenage years indoors, and when outdoors the weather isnt' that great (I live in England). I generally consume nuts and avacados when i can, and when i cannot fat comes from any meat i eat within the week.

My Weight is 70kg and my height is 6,4. I am supplementing with vitamin d. No i dont have many friends, it is hard to get support when my family are also generally unhealthy and on medication for depression. I dont believe fat consumption is a problem because i generally dont restrict it at all, i have normal total testosterone levels, but i believe my free testosterone is the problem.

I eat paleo as much as possible although its not always possible for me to do this due to lack of funds and everyone else in my house eating low quality food e.g. takeaways.

Cannabis can actually damage the brain, especially in young people. It really interferes with your ability to focus mentally and form and retain new memories.

A week and a half isn't nearly long enough for your body to detoxify from daily consumption of a drug so if the weed did contribute to you problems you won't be seeing any improvement yet from giving it up

Other than that

Vit D Iron Adrenal fatigue Thyroid low serotonin

could be any of these or a combination

Consume Anti-impotence pills and see its effect. They are really effective pills for treatment of low sex drive issues.

Alright, listen. This is a very very VERY similar situation to one I was in. Extremely depressed... existential crisis... hated my job.. no relationships, fought with everyone, Smoked an ounce a week, had extra weight, couldnt sleep. Got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, insomnia yadda yadda yadda.I wanted to kill myself.. For real. What you need to do is fully commit to bettering your health and getting enough sleep and healthy fats. Exercise is a plus, but you definitely need Fish oil in your diet. Coconut oil. Grassfed butter. If you can't do anything else, just don't eat gluten. These sound like very basic recommendations, but I swear this is what I went through, too dude. Try meditating every once in awhile. You'll feel like you're trying to be Mr. Miyagi on a beach at first, but if nothing else, it'll calm your mind and help you realize what you want to do. Hopefully you were never on anti-depressants while you smoked heavily or you could really be fucked up. Try to start changing your mindset. Your main goal right now should be fixing your health, and then you need to immediately find something you're passionate about. Personally, I became obsessed with the paleo movement and nutrition, and that's what keeps me from getting down, man. Sounds stupid, but I promise. Health, then find a passion. You can fix all of the imbalances you're talking about with a diet. Even your thyroid.

Never get meds for your mental health. As I said before I had an assortment of "disorders" that they were giving me all kinds of medications for that just really fucked me up, man. DO NOT TAKE THEM. I fixed it all with a paleo diet man. Your diet can fix it. Don't give up hope, and hit me up if you need some more help. Good luck, buddy. I've been there. You got this.

I'd say get a sleep study it sounds like what you could be experiencing is sleep apnea and you might not even know it. Btw you might want to start supplementing up to 8000 ius a day and add in magnesium/zinc/copper/mk4-7 to you're regimen. I've heard of people taking up to 20,000 iu's in order to get their levels up. Nothing beats going in the sun though. I'm not sure of the safety of this though, i'm not sure taking any sort of vitamin at high doses would be good. Maybe move closer to the equator :P.

Are you eating enough fat b/c fat consumption (and for that matter adequate calorie consumption) can be linked with low sex drive. How much do you weight? Do you take vitamin D (do you live in a sunny place)? How's your home life? Do you have a good friend and support network--b/c it seems you have signs of depression.

You sound like you are describing classic symptoms of veganism. What are you eating? Are you getting adequate cholesterol and vit D as both are precursors to multiple hormones.
