Anyone familiar with Dr. Braverman's work? Success/Quackery?

I've been reading information at Pathmed.com and Dr. Braverman. Seems to be in horomonal infor seems to be in alignment with The Quilt, and diet close to most versions of Paleo. He takes a stand that health issues begin in brain. Glitchy site and sales of supplments make me squeamish. I'm so desperate for help that I'm almost ready to give up all my savings for an appointment.

Anyone with experience? Anyone with a better/deeper/greater understanding of physiology able to critically evaluate?

I think your perception of his diagnostic methods are more a problem. He is just measuring things he can without using any harmful technology to gain an insight. Fatty liver will show up on an ultrasound without an emf signal or xrays. Eeg tells you about acetylcholine and cmro2 status. If you dont understand why he does what he does dont call it woo. Ask. He is one of the best docs in nyc and has been for sometime. The down side? He costs a lot to see so he is not for everyone

I dont think everyone here is full service. Hormones require a doc rx......its not just testing that can be hacked.

Chris Kresser's (healthyskeptic) knowledge base is amazing. I'd definitely work with him if I had complex issues going on.

His page looks relatively reasonable, but he's using a lot of quackery buzzwords and associates with a lot of quacks as well.

When he says the first thing he does is take an unwarranted ultrasound of your whole body and then takes EEG readings to ascertain the cause of chronic disease, it sets off all kinds of warning bells. If I can't find a reasonable expectation of positive results for the stuff you're doing, I'm wary.

Remember: Durian Rider has lots of anecdotes to share, too.

Dr. Braverman is amazing! I got interested in him from his Facebook page www.Facebook.com/DrBraverman and was surprised how many of his patients post positive things about him. He is definitely worth your time.
