Scoliosis cure?

I've got a friend who has been paleo for a while. She suffers from some skeletal problems like scoliosis, and needs to go to a chiropractor regularly. Is there a paleo, permanent solution?

Didn't work for me. Still have it. And I do all of those regularly.

I came here to say this! A regular yoga and pilates practice helped me with my (mild) scoliosis. There are also specialists who can help you figure out which exercises are most helpful.

Many women with scoliosis benefit from yoga. Check the work of Judith Lasater.

I came here to say this! A regular yoga and pilates practice helped me with my (mild) scoliosis. There are also specialists who can help you figure out which exercises are most helpful.

I see this thread is a little older, but wanted to add my personal experience with straightening out scoliosis. Well, actually it's my experience with helping my daughter who is 20. She learned as a teen that she has 28 degree scoliosis. her back x-ray lookslike an S shape. Her orthopedic pediatrician took x-rays and measurements and told her when she was 16 years old that she had stopped growing and therefore there was nothing he could do for her. In other words, since she had reached her full height, there was no point in putting her in a brace, and the 28 degrees isn't bad enough to warrant surgery. Braces and surgery I believe are all that the medical profession has to offer to help with scoliosis. Anyway at the time of this doctor's visit, my daughter was 5'4" and we were assured that she was done growing. Four years later, she's now 20 years old, and two months ago I got into traditional eating and started making bone broth. Around the same time, I also had her start taking vitamin D3, about 4 grams per day. (This is because she's mildly autistic and because there is research showing that autism can be helped with vitamin D supplementation). Surprisingly, my daughter really took to drinking this bone broth and drinks at least 1 cup every day. After about six weeks, I noticed that she looked taller. a friend who hadn't seen her in awhile also commented that she looked taller. Could it be? Sure enough, I measured her and she's now 5'4-3/4' tall. She's grown 3/4 of an inch in less than two months! And this is after the pediatric orthopedist told us so authoritatively four years ago that she couldn't grow any taller. But more astoundingly I believe it's because her scoliosis is straightening. When I compare her spine to a photograph of the x-ray that was taken when she was 16 years old, her back is definitely straighter. She used to have a convex hunch on her right shoulder that is also flattening out. So in short I'm not sure if it's the D3 supplementation or the bone broth, but they both work to build bone. I've always heard that if you give the body what it needs it can heal itself, and I'm so excited because it appears to be true :)

She may want to investigate an alternative therapy like Egoscue. I've seen some pretty amazing results with Egoscue in regards to low back and knee pain.

I had hyperlordosis, and I got rid of it by squatting heavy. Squatting also fixed my knock knees quite a lot. Scoliosis is more difficult, but a physical therapist would be much more helpful than a chiropractor, I should think.

I am not a medical professional, but I have a mild case of scoliosis (more common in women than men).

In my case, strengthening back and core muscles has essentially eliminated this condition for me.

Whether this will work for her depends, I think, on the degree of curvature. In general, I think many if not most "back problems" can be reduced or eliminated by strengthening the underlying muscles.

The problems that can occur in the skeletal system can include disease, injuries, infections or genetics. These can be treated by the best scoliosis specialist. Yoga and exercises can benefit but if advised by doctor. I would recommend her to go to http://www.scoliosis-treatments.com/ for the best and permanent treatment.

A physical therapist once told me that I should never do back squats because I have mild scoliosis. Fast forward a bunch of years and I'm a few months away from back squatting double my body weight. If you're going to go with the strengthening approach you definitely want a coach/trainer who knows what they're doing. My coach worked with me early on to make sure my form was good.

I've also heard great things about inversion chairs and spine straightening.
