If they smell anything let less than appetizing, toss them...dogs' stomachs can handle older meat than ours, so that's an option.

Yes, marrow smells different from meat--fattier, I would say--but when it's going bad it will smell just like bad meat. Do not eat.
Always do a sniff test before you cook something, especially after you've thawed out frozen meat. Sometimes it takes so long to thaw out the meat in the fridge, that the outer portion of it is starting to go bad while the center is still frozen! That's why I try to thaw meat quickly, in a tub of tap water, instead of doing it the longer way.
I don't trust refrigerators.
