I am only able to get bones from a local supermarket where i purchase chicken, i don't believe they are just grass fed. Will it be okay to use the bones to make broth?

Thanks

I do it. I figure it's better than nothing, but I'm curious to hear what others say.

Be sure to chill your broth afterward and remove the fat that floats to the top and hardens when you're using grain-fed bones. Many of the undesirable elements of grain-fed beef are trapped very nicely in the fat.

Yes, it's totally fine. Don't waste your money on grass-fed bones unless you have money to spare.

Is grass-fed better? It always is. Is it so much better that it's worth going out of your way to get it? Nope.

I always make my bone broth from conventional beef. This is because I can get really good bones from a real butcher. I consume the fat, too. It's mostly marrow fat if I get the right bones and no way am I letting that good stuff go to waste.

I once made a bone broth out of bones from a generic grain-fed cow. Not only did it not gel, it smelled like a bakery. I totally smelled what they ate while I was cooking it.

Is buying grass fed beef that important?
