Who do you want your body to be like?

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created May 22, 2011 at 11:07 PM

I know in the Paleo community may aspire to be "Brad Pitt Fight Club" Fit. However, Is he the only option? If you could model your physical appearance after anyone, who would it be? It could be anyone living or not, Famous or not. If you see your answer already posted vote for it.

This has been my motivational picture for the last 2 years, these guys especially the older one in the center look well muscled lean and healthy without excess bulk and 100% functional strength

Now maybe Leanne will not like me, but this was my first thought after seeing this photo of Mrs Biel - aren't her shoulders a bit too wide for a woman? ;-) But of course no need to feel insecure about it, apparently many people find that attractive.

@AC Perhaps not, but having been around sporting culture (married a BB scout) I don't care for the way that I was treated. It appeared that women simply didn't matter as people. I much prefer the reception I have gotten amongst other communities where I do not have to cherry pick people in order to be treated as having a brain as well as a body.

@Vrimj: I see. Not everybody with the super athletic look has that mentality, though. Erwan Le Corre certainly doesn't. He said he doesn't really like competition or anything. He's just trying to be happy and healthy. His athletic body is just the byproduct. He even said that getting "ripped" isn't the goal of his system, but simply, well, a byproduct. The main goal is maintaining your health and happiness. But as to the hugging thing, yeah. There's no getting around that.

@Kent Cowgill: Why do I care? Sorry, but I don't feel like introspecting that hard right now. And why are anybody's else's goals up for my judgement? Well, I never said that they were. But for the sake of discussion, some are and some aren't. Of course ultimate goals aren't, but proximate ones intended to bring about ultimate ones ARE. And of course I would need more information from Danielle to be able to judge her. Hence my question to her. And whatever about the tone. Perhaps it would be more precise to say that the tone conveyed some sort of skepticism. But there was no assertion in there.

uwiniwin: Yes, not being ripped doesn't make you physically incompetent. Great. But why exactly are you telling me that? How I interpreted it, she said that she doesn't find the athletic look attractive. And I'm asking her whether that's really what she meant. Not having the athletic look is exactly the same as not having the appears-very-physically-competent look. So I'm asking her, "You would prefer to look as if you aren't very physically competent (athletic)?" Doesn't "not very physically competent" mean "unathletic"? You needn't answer that, though. Only Dannielle can say what she meant.

Good comment on the fight club thing. I've been kinda done with the whole long and lean thing for a while. Maybe I'm just bored. But now I want size. Part of it is just rebellion - fun to strive for a look that's in the eye of the mainstream styling yknow? Thus I'm shooting for bigness for a while. We'll see. Ain't easy putting on weight!

I don't find the muscular/ athletic/ ripped look attractive either on women or men. I want to be curvy and sexy and healthily "soft" with a healthy amount of muscle but not more than slightly visible (no six pack, super flat stomach, or muscley arms/legs).

There's no getting around that.

uwiniwin: Yes, not being ripped doesn't make you physically incompetent.

@uwiniwin: No need to be sorry. I'm by no means afraid of making mistakes. In fact, I would thank you if I really thought you corrected one of my errors. But for now, all I can say is, "What premise is a false dichotomy? I don't see it."

6f2c00fcbf48c69f0ea212239b3e1178

on May 23, 2011
at 01:56 AM

@Kent Cowgill: Why do I care? Sorry, but I don't feel like introspecting that hard right now. And why are anybody's else's goals up for my judgement? Well, I never said that they were. But for the sake of discussion, some are and some aren't. Of course ultimate goals aren't, but proximate ones intended to bring about ultimate ones ARE. And of course I would need more information from Danielle to be able to judge her. Hence my question to her. And whatever about the tone. Perhaps it would be more precise to say that the tone conveyed some sort of skepticism. But there was no assertion in there.

Alas, I'm 5'6", and weigh 128. I'm pretty strong for my size though...benching 130 for reps right now, 200 5x5 squats, 195 deadlifts 3 rep max, pressing 100 and repping curls with 45 pounders. So maybe some day!

my body type, if i were to be at my goal weight, would pretty much be exactly like kim kardashian. i cant stand anything about her, but thats what i look like- boobs and butt, never a waif, solid with a lot of muscle mass and a layer of fat that wont ever go away and frankly, i dont want it too. i would LOVE to look like sophia loren, or salma hayek. those are my ideal womens bodies, and for me its something actually attainable. ill never be described as "willowy" or "cut". im cool with that.

I prefer to be as athletic as possible for the sports that I enjoy. I have a strong back/shoulders and stronger legs than most people I know, but I don't do any real chest or direct arm work. I have what I need but I notice when I work on chest and arms I get more attention from the opposite sex. So yeah, I have decided to do a little bulk for the next month or so and work on chest and arms. I always get good reviews from the ladies when my shirt is off, but as much as you try to take your shirt off you still wearing one the majority of the time. I am not vain... I could careless what I look like as long as I am not fat, but the extra attention is worth the work.

Also, I have decided to make an effort to bring back the six-pack. I still have it if you look hard, but its time to have it 100% of the time again without flexing.

Part of it is just rebellion - fun to strive for a look that's in the eye of the mainstream styling yknow? Thus I'm shooting for bigness for a while. We'll see. Ain't easy putting on weight!

That's a ridiculous pose. It looks like he dislocated every joint on the right side of his torso. I'll take the physique though, hold the ego.

Nigella Lawson would work for me...she has the creamiest skin and looks healthy and beautiful.

If I'm to be entirely unrealistic, I'd love to look like Daesung from Big Bang. That man has the thighs of a god haha

Personally,i both hate and love what paleo has done to my body. I feel better and perform better but no matter what i try...macro wise....i continue to get bigget muscularly but i wont lean out. I look like an out of shape man and im a 19 year old girl. I continue on paleo bc of the health benefits but i am no closer now to reaching my goal of 12% bf than i was eating Conventionally.

Why do you want to have 12% bodyfat, and you are female right?

Jessica Biel is a personal inspiration of mine as well. I'd probably never have her boobs, but if I could gain about 20-30 lbs and worked really hard on my arms, we would have a very similar figure. She looks very strong and firm, but also feminine. We both have broad square shoulders and more butt than hips.

My favorite female bodies are the exaggerated true hourglass figures - young Salma Hyak had probably the most beautiful body I have ever seen - but I am flat-chested and naturally have lower body fat, so there's no point in wishing for what I will never have.

If we're talking Fight Club then it has to be Jared Leto as Angel Face - Jared is too skinny at the moment though now he's veggie :(

I'd prefer the body I had when I was 16 and a competitive wrestler. I'm making my way back to that. If I only knew 10% of what I know now back then... look out.

Yes, Brad Pitt is pretty, but his body in "Fight Club" (great movie) is about what I would expect from a Metrosexual who thinks doing curls on a freakin' Bosu ball is the height of training. I will go with Pyrros Dimas for real strength.
