Exclusively these Zones are low meat, low fat areas. They live long and healthy. SO why the paradox?

Women in Hong Kong outlast women in Japan -- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/26/longest-life-expectancy-world-hong-kong-women-japan_n_1705606.html Hong Kong was not included.

Not an exhaustive list, but 7th Day in Loma Linda, California, life expectancy 77 men, 80 women (http://www.llu.edu/info/legacy/appendixc/) whereas life expectancy in NYC is 77ish men, 82ish women (http://www.nyc.gov/html/om/pdf/2012/pr465-12_charts.pdf). Life expectancy in Fairfax County is 81.1 men, 83.8 women (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-state-of-nova/post/fairfax-county-men-have-nations-longest-life-expectancy/2011/06/15/AGjzn0VH_blog.html). I can definitively tell you that life in northern Virgina or NYC is very different than 7th Day in Loma Linda.

Enlighten us who are too lazy to Google it for ourselves. What are some locales with long longevity and drastically different diets (particularly ones that would make Keyes shit himself) and the locales with Keyes-esque diets with short longevity?

Also if you actually want us to critique something then you should actually include the research for us to critique.. Downvote for not including this.

Here is the paradox.

Buettner is not a demographer. He's a writer/documentary producer who was funded by National Geographic to write a book about cultural influences on longevity. Then, in order to sell as many books as possible, he cherry picked the countries he included in the "Blue Zone" in a way that would make Ancel Keys look fair and balanced.

It is completely biased to say, "Lets find areas of longevity, and then look for the similarities. But ignore cultures that have the same similarity without the longevity. Also, let us ignore cultures that have the same longevity, but don't fit my agenda"

All the blue zones I know of are on the coast, and they all eat fish/seafood, they also live in close knit communities, those things together would account for a few extra years

These seem to be throwback, idyllic areas where everyone eats a clean, tasty diet and get exercise. They receive modern medical care. And all of them eat meat, IIRC. And if heavily fish, as Stephen R. says, then they're very close to Paleo (I'd presume their beef/veal is grass-fed, their veggies organic, the milk hormone free). They're definitely doing better then 80/20, IMO, and more like 95/5.
