What BASIC Blood Work Should I Ask My Doctor For?

My search for blood work came up with "Hack my blood work" (probably will be me soon) and specifics for people with certain problems so here I am posting yet again...

I haven't been to the doctor in years but, due to recent full time employment and good benefits, I have a check up tomorrow. I would like to get some blood work done but I honestly have no idea what to ask for.

I feel like there are some points that Paleo target to see if you are in good health so curious as to what tests might be the best. I believe I am very healthy so not looking for any crazy expensive tests, just want to make sure my body is reacting well to Paleo.

Thanks!!

If you feel healthy and fit at your age I don't think you need anything more than a basic cholesterol screening (lipid panel). Beyond this you can go for a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP). These three panels are typically bundled together, and the cost is quite modest if you have insurance.

Other tests (sex hormone, thyroid) are probably unnecessary for someone like yourself.
