Hack my father's Serum/Plasma glucose

Apologies in Advanced this is not the American measurement

Serum (3.4-5.4) mmol/L

S.A.D diet - 15 Nov 2010 - 5.1 (fasting)
S.A.D diet - 2 August 2011 - 6.3 (random)
S.A.D diet - 20 August 2011 - 6.0 (fasting) ( had pneumonia and chlamydia (non-sexual) infection at this time)

Paleo diet But also has yogurt/feta cheese and a bit more fruit than the usual Grok - 3rd March 2012 - 5.8 (fasting)

My father explained his diet to the doctor and the doctor suggested he needs to manage his stress better.

Any advice, whether psychological or diet wise, an explanation, or personal experience would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance ;)

Thank-you very much for your response. He was also mildly vitamin D deficient at 50 ( this is probably again an non-American measurement)

What happens to his fasting glucose when he dumps the yoghurt? And how long had he fasted before the 5.8?

All stress hormones are known as "contra-insulin" hormones, so the doc was not far off in his recommendation. Making sure he's on adequate doses of vitamin D and getting plenty of sleep, are also key. Exercise is a great way to naturally lower inflammation and serum glucose. As your father's numbers are looking more and more Pre-diabetic, Robb Wolf just wrote a great article on the benefits of Metformin, the first drug we use in the treatment of prediabetes and T2 diabetes. http://www.robbwolf.com/
