Bloating & constipation

I'm still bloated even now that I'm strictly eating Paleo. It gets so uncomfortable that I have to unbutton my pants in the afternoon. I wake up with a somewhat flat stomach but as the day goes on, my stomach keeps getting bigger.??

I also noticed that my constipation got worse and passing stools is more difficult and definitely pellet style (sorry if it's TMI!). I thought paleo would help with that but it hasn't. but I don't have much gas.

I talked to my doctor and she recommended I take some benefiter daily for a month and see if the situation improves.??

Here re is the type of food I've been eating: eggs, spinach, kale, asparagus, peppers, brocoli, sweet potato, avocado, bananas, apples, clementines, berries, cashew butter, almond milk, larabars, bacon and meats. I've had one potato here and there too but not many times. ??I'm on my 4th week of paleo and lost 5 lbs so far.

Have you tried any probiotics or prebiotics? They seem to help me a great deal. I use "primal defense" probiotics (linked below). I also supplement with 1 tbspn of potato starch per day along with home made saeurkraut a few times per week.??

I also second Raydawg's advice on avoiding the emulsifiers. Good Luck.

Not sure those larabars are paleo, they'll likely fall into the "crap in a bag" category.

I'd also be very worried about the ingredients in the almond milk, these are typically made with added gums such as guar gum, or carragenan or other thickeners, and these alone may cause bloating or digestive issues.?? Try eliminating this, or switch to canned coconut milk (there are coconut milks available in cartons, much like regular milk that also use the same thickeners and have the same issues.)

That said, you see to be eating a lot of fruit, the berries are ok in about a handful, but bananas and apples are high in fructose, and perhaps you might have an issue with fructose, or perhaps you have an issue with FODMAPs.

Some people do react to eggs, peppers or white potato, you could try to eliminate them and reintroduce them.
