Beef allergy - do bison have the same proteins?

I've lived with an allergy to beef my whole life. It's nothing new to me. I do miss a burger though!

Anyone know if the proteins in bison are different enough to try without fear of a reaction? It probably won't kill me, but I do hate getting horrible, itchy hives if I can help it.

I've tried grass fed and finished beef, still get hives. That was my first thought too!

most bison do not eat grains, alot of beef allergies are actually corn or grain allergies.

PS everyone - I do NOT react to bison! So for anyone with a beef allergy, I'd say it's worth a shot. No more itchy hives for me!

Nope. I don't even know where to get ostrich. I've never seen it anywhere before.

I have a violent beef allergy and share your craving for a burger. I can eat bison with no problems. The Ted's Montana Grill chain does a great bison burger!

I get extremely itchy when I eat beef or tallow, but I don't know if bison would cause the same reaction. I could eat lamb comfortably with symptoms.

Beef and bison are so close genetically that they can be bred to each other, with fertile offspring ... so my guess is that you would react to bison in the same way. My source for this info is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beefalo.
