I'm already planning a cheat for my dinner with my family on my birthday (a little polenta with my lamb shanks, and a REAL slice of Boston Cream Pie). So if the office asked me, I'd love maybe some berries and whipped cream or cheese and nuts (obviously I do dairy).

For my birthday my office brought a cake for everybody else and a package of bacon for me to take home. I thought that was nice. It sounds like they are very considerate in your office..

My favorites:

  1. Dark chocolate and whipped cream
  2. "chocolate soup" - mix dark chocolate and coconut butter in the microwave.

I think that on my birthday I will eat whatever I want.

You don't get diabetes from eating cake occasionally... you get it from eating junk food every meal!

Have them get you some berries and dark chocolate while everyone else gets diabetes eating their standard cake fare.

It requires a bit of preparation, but I've been using a bacon-wrapped, almond-stuffed date recipe for my celebrations. This gives you a bit more than a bowl of fruit, from a presentation perspective, and still is a treat.
