Just Binged on Dark Chocolate- Now What?

I've been on the paleo diet for a week and lost the 5 lbs that no amount of oatmeal/treadmill could ever take off. I've eaten 2 meals/day composed of organic meat/produce. Problem is I went to the grocery store today, bought a big chunk of dark chocolate, intending to make it last a couple of weeks. Then I started eating it and before I knew it I'd eaten the entire damn thing. That's 0.8 lbs of chocolate and probably 100g of sugar! I was thinking about only eating chicken/leafy greens for the next two days to balance out the extra 2K calories I probably just ate. I may also go for a 3 hr walk to steadily burn calories without over-exterting. And I'm making a rule that I never buy more than 0.3 lbs of chocolate at a time, and then only every 2 weeks minimum. What do you think?

You're right, I'll try to be more aware of my attitude. Its more a psychological issue than a physical one, because I'm very thin. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe you didn't read the post. I had 5 extra lbs of extra fat on me, which is the heaviest I've ever been. I lost it in a week, and maybe just gained 1 lb back. I'm now 1 lb overweight. 33% of Americans are seriously overweight and 36% are obese. If you think I'm doing badly, then you must hate everyone around you. Furthermore, are you more than 1lb overweight? If so, you're fatter than I am, and I wouldn't judge you for it. Maybe you should rethink your attitude.

No. Do not overreact by starving yourself, overexercising, or being punishingly strict. That just sets you up for a pattern of yo-yo dieting and self-abuse. You want to teach your body to see paleo eating as a healthy, enjoyable, and sustainable way of life, not as a punishing regimen of self-denial.

So, get yourself back on the horse. Recover from your temporary lapse by treating yourself well and eating nourishing paleo foods. If you find that you're less hungry than usual, then you don't have to stuff yourself, but don't starve yourself either.

You obviously have some issues with your relationship to food.

Stop, breathe, think. What did you just do? Over eat something. That's it, that's all. Nothing more. Just put it aside, and stay away from dark chocolate for a while.

Put extra effort into your next meals being well balanced and nutritious. Exercise just as you would normally, though I'm never gonna complain about a person walking more.

You just tripped on a pebble. Keep calm and paleo on, my friend.

Switch to 90% dark chocolate. It takes a while, but you can get used to the taste (N=2).

Indeed. Take a break. Have a think. Do some yoga. Just one change at a time. You can do it.

A grown man binging on chocolate. I really hope you die and don't procreate. Your genes are weak.
