Cheat/Binge and feeling awful.

I've been doing Paleo for almost 2 weeks, and loved the results so far (Yes, I know the 10 pounds I lost the first week was water weight, but still.), today I wasn't in the mood to cook, and decided to let myself go to Subway and get a footlong tuna and added cheese... and the 2 cookies and a coke. I feel so terrible. I need to find a way to keep my will power up on these cold Sunday's. Even worse, the gym is closed for the day, so I'm stuck wallowing in my own self-pity.

Any tips for handling this nausea (and regret)?

We are so used to feeling bad and covering it up with medication that we forget what feeling good is like. I never want to go back to feeling awful after a meal again.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Re-examine your relationship with food. Consider it a "treat" not a "cheat" because you didn't do anything morally wrong, you just ate something that tastes great and has a bad effect on your body. You are suffering the consequences, recover and carry on. Know what triggers your binges. Shop in advance and have some menu planning. Go out for a nice walk. Get over it, Mary. You'll be fine.

File away that memory of how bad you felt after going bananas on some things that aren't the best for your body. It takes some time to rewire the habit/reward pathways. Everytime you have a trigger to binge on something like that, just recall that memory.

Plan ahead. When you do cook, it takes very little time and effort to make extra portions you can simply heat and eat on days like this do you don't feel tempted to get fast food. Get in the habit now of staying home with warm, nourishing food instead of heading out in the winter cold for junk.

MM, that sounds delicious!

I don't eat grains though, or HFCS, shit's poison. I'll live vicariously through you till then though k? :))!

On the bright-side though, the tuna was probably one of the best choices you could have got from subway. Besides 2 weeks is a fantastic start for any new diet. That's impressive.

There's absolutely no excuse for 2 cookies though, it's grains, sugars and hydrogenated vegetable oils, it's basically just a combination of the 3 big no nos.
