That's the accelerated version, CDone! I didn't go Mexi-paleo for at least 3 months, and didn't go template until 6 months in. Then again, I was never even 80/20, more like 70/30.

Eased into it as I started doing research -- I was having health issues. First I gave up dairy (about 6 weeks), then gluten, then all grains, full paleo about 2 weeks after gluten free. I've been paleo for about 11 months.

I eased into by "accident" over a few months. I would suggest a month or two.

Transition over 3-4 weeks and you avoid the common pitfalls associated with starting paleo.

Week 1: Drop the processed foods, bad fats; eat better quality meats. Week 2: Replace grains with starchy veggies, half the time. Week 3: Replace all grains with starchy veggies, increase fibrous veggies. Week 4: If you desire lower carbs, continue cutting starchy veggies, replacing with fibrous veggies.

ease, but that is only because I did not realize the nefarious effects of gluten. I started only by eliminating regular meat in favor of grass fed, eliminate vegetable oils, and supplement CLO. Also, I realized the beneficial effects of things such as root vegetables and bone broth on my own, long before I was exposed to paleo theory. I think one year transition is OK. It continues to this day as I am now transitioning out of yeasty things (wine and beer).
