I have heard so much about the Paleo Diet, but I have no idea where to begin? What are the basics that I should know in order to begin?

The PaNu get started link is the best way to "ease into" paleo one step at a time. The heuristic starts with the most effective changes you can make and you work your way through the list as far and as fast as you feel comfortable. It's how I did it - took about a year to incorporate everything for me (and I still do high fat dairy - butter/cream). Good luck and welcome!

I also think Chris Kresser's series has great value. Everyone has their own little twist on things and what's "Paleo" and everything, but specifically his part 2, then 3, then 1 is a very good place to start.

I am giving them to you in odd order on purpose because I think it's better to to read in this order for someone new.

Part 2: http://thehealthyskeptic.org/9-steps-to-perfect-health-2-nourish-your-body

Part 3: http://thehealthyskeptic.org/9-steps-to-perfect-health-3-eat-real-food

You CANNOT be paleo without #VFF and jeggings. They are a requirement to even prestige.

Begin by getting rid of grains. Begins by getting rid of vegetable oils. The crux of paleo is avoiding food toxins. So the beginning of paleo is not doing but avoiding. Paleo in many ways is not doing. Not eating certain things. So where to start is abstinence not presence. The problem is the presence of novel dietary lectins. Get rid of them. Now.

Perhaps spend a little time learning before you get into a full-fledged paleo diet. Spend a little time reading paleo blogs, forums, websites, books, and listening to podcasts and similar shows. Soon you will start to understand the general beliefs about diet and be able to put together a coherent picture of what your paleo diet will look like. I recommend making a list of things that most people agree are characteristics of a good diet, and then another list for contentious issues. Amend the lists as you learn more and change your mind about things.

Knowledge is power has never been more true.
