I bought A pack of ground beef at Our Aldi's grocery store very cheap. (2.60 per lb), But on ingredients it lists: Beef, And Natural Flavors. Does anyone know what is included in these natural flavors and can it be anything non paleo?

It's an unfortunate part of life, but we usually get what we pay for.

"Natural flavors" are not natural. They are chemically derived to make you insanely hungry. MSG is one of several compounds known as a "natural flavor," but it's not good for you.

If you have to add "natural flavors" to something that was already pretty natural to begin with, you have to ask, "what the fudge is going on with this beef that they have to add flavor to it?!"

My guess is that the ratio of "beef" to "awkward cow (maybe other animal) bits and pieces" is pretty skewed towards the latter. I'd stay away. Far away. Probably wash my hands. And perhaps read a few chapters out of the Bible just to make sure ;)

"Natural Flavor" are one of the many magic keywords that hide MSG, a nasty excito-toxin. Not something you want to eat. If they're not willing to disclose what's in it, incase it's objectionable, you shouldn't be willing to eat it.

Bin it. There shouldn't be anything in beef but beef.

I found this article from Kansas state--apparently low-fat meat lacks flavor so meat fat or cream flavoring is added.

Will NEVER buy that--(my husband brought it home yesterday).
