Is butcher brisket any good?

Looks like the biggest chunk of beef I can buy without jumping through hoops is a butcher brisket. Yeah, I'd rather have a whole cow, guts and all, but a brisket is my limit right now. I forget the price per pound, but it's just interesting seeing that it's available.

Are there any interesting steaks or roasts I can get out of it? Is it nice and fatty? is it well marbled? What say, my fellow carnivores?

If you know how to use a smoker properly - brisket is one of the best meats on the planet.

I'm guessing you are talking about a whole brisket. If so, it will include the point and the flat. The point is more marbled, while the flat has a big chunk of fat at the end. Both need to be cooked really slow and long. The flat is what you usually see in grocery stores when you buy brisket. You aren't going to be able to cut any steaks out of a brisket.

brisket is actually pretty good but definitely a slow cooker! Look up Texas brisket recipes online, back in the day I could eat beef this was a favorite!!

It's a tougher piece of meat. Lot of cooking to do. Not a quick piece of meat to cook.

Grass fed is best, of course, but either way get your crock pot out and brisket is one of my favorites.
