BCAA'S, supplement timing, and other questions regarding BCAA'S.

It's a question that has been posed on here a few times, some paleo purist being vehemently against supplementing additional amino-acids, but I was curious about an allegation(for which I can't find the article at the moment) about BCAA's causing insulin resistance and/or high insulin levels? I speculate that could happen from taking them on an empty stomach, but I'm not sure. Does anybody know if this is true, and maybe if it is a good thing temporarily to have slightly higher blood sugar for the formation of muscle glycogen post workout?

Also, what is the best time to take them for maximum results? Empty/full stomach, pre and/or post workout? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
