I've noticed when I go to Bali that my appetite changes significantly ( reduced). Also even though I start having more local food which is higher in carb I still lose weight but if I did this back home I would gain weight. Another thing i notice is that i get the runs for 1 to 2 days. Any explanation?

you probably have less appetite because of the heat & humidity (i eat less when i go to bali or other tropical climates). you probably lose weight even when carbing up because your overall intake is lower. you get the runs due to one of a few scenarios: different foods and sensitive gut, eating something you're slightly intolerant to, or (most likely) bacteria in food that you aren't used to.
