Hey Paleo Hacks,
I recently got my Metametrix Stool Test Results back and I was hoping someone could help me interpret them. From what I can tell I do not have enough good bacteria and I have Aeromonas Sp. Overgrowth. The high triglycerides and fat malabsorption is probably from the coconut oil I have been taking by the spoonful to get some extra calories since I want to up my weight.
What should I do about the Aeromonas Sp.? I was thinking that just getting a lot of good probiotics would probably be more beneficial to knock it out than say taking oregano oil to kill it off before getting probiotics?
Here is a link to the results, I had to scan printed pages since I couldn't save it in a normal format: http://www.use.com/b198b5a86852af87a9e0#photo=1
Thanks for any help !
Also, does anyone know how good Custom Probiotics are? I was thinking about getting their 11 strain formula but it is costly.

If I reading the report correctly I would say consuming homemade sauerkraut and/or homemade yogurt daily could help. I agree that taking oregano oil to target a specific microbe might not work, or it may make matters worse.
But might I suggest you take your report to a good naturopath? Rejiggering one's intestinal flora is not kiddie stuff. I had severe IBS for several years and I fully recovered only after years of Paleo/SCD-like dieting and being treated for H. pylori (; I think the antibiotics I took killed off other unwanted bacteria and, in time, everything cleared up).

Have you had any success? I recently found out that I also have an aeromonas infection. My ND put me on a combination of Tanalbit and oregano oil, and I don't think it's working, even though I've been taking lots of probioitcs and fermented foods along with it. Apparently, Cipro (and it's successors) are the only effective antibiotics for it. Ouch. According to my research, neem leaf extract has been effective in eradicating aeromonas infections in fish. I'm going to talk to my ND when I see him in a few weeks about changing up the protocol. I hope you're doing well. Turns out this bug is a bitch.
