What's your favorite brand of bacon? Where do you get it from?

Agreed about ends&pieces. Far better than plain old sliced bacon, especially if you use it as an ingredient. We get Daily's, as there is no TJ's near us.

Oh, "The Big Pack". I need this. The 12oz packages are much too small.

Wellshire peppered bacon is the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. What's the "big pack"?

It hasn't been for me. Usually I'm hard pressed to find a bacon without a trace of sugar in it. It still lists the bacon as 0 carb for 1 slice, and the slices are really thick, so I have to think the amount of sugar in it is pretty small.

Trader Joe's Uncured Apple Smoked Bacon. It tastes delicious and makes the house smell awesome. Even more awesome than regular bacon, if you can believe that :)

At the moment, it's Applegate Organics' "Sunday Bacon." I get it from a local organic grocery chain, Earth Fare. Just had some with breakfast -- yum!

I was at a hotel for a conference where I discovered my absolute all time favorite bacon: the kind you get at an all-you-can-eat buffet. I especially like this because I don't have to clean up the baking sheets afterwards.

I can eat a lot of that bacon.

Wellshire Farms "thick cut" bacon. It's REALLY good and it gives you lots of good bacon fat too!

bacon!-what's-your-favorite?

(check out the fat I harvested from this bacon here)

Trader Joe's Uncured Ends & Pieces is my current favorite. I love the random nature of the pieces. Each one has a different size, fat ratio, texture: none of the uniformity of packaged bacon. Plus, it's much cheaper than perfectly packaged bacon slices.

I get maple double-smoked bacon at the local butcher's shop. I buy 28 slices at once, and am back a week or so later for more.

This amuses the butcher no end, it seems. He knows that I'm a former vegetarian, he can see that I'm losing weight, and it's pretty obvious that I'm eating a fair bit of bacon.

The bacon we make ourselves. If you love bacon, and you can spare a shelf in your fridge, I totally recommend you make your own. It's easy, and this way you're in control of the ingredients -- no nitrates if those scare you, your own herbs and spices, etc. (Note: The album shows us smoking the bacon, but that's not necessary; we probably smoke only half the bacon we make these days.)

I kind of get a wide variety depending on what I can get my little hands on. D'artagnan for duck, boar, hickory or applewood smoked piggy, Hudson Valley duck bacon, there are several styles that I get from my butcher's - cut to order! Mm... 1" piece plz. I like what Applegate Farms puts out, both turkey and oinker, as well and what Trader Joe's carries.

I love thick cut pepper bacon and if none is in the fridge will stack two slices and crack a ton on while cooking.

Bacon good.

Wellshire uncured dry rubbed and peppered is far and away the best I've had. Ask for the "big pack" at the meat counter at Whole Foods.

I finally found a delicious bacon that is uncured and they are nice to the piggies. I'm not sure how widely available it is. It's from Beeler's.

This is not my favorite kind but I just had to share it somewhere. I was at the Dupont Circle farmers market in DC today and saw... Bacon Jam, sold by Virginia Lamb and Meats. The first ingredient was smoked bacon, followed by onions, vinegar, brown sugar, maple syrup, coffee, garlic, and spices.

No, I didn't buy it. I'm doing a Whole 30 right now so I have an excuse.

I'll have to say Nueske's apple-smoked for straight out of the package. You can find it anywhere near Wisconsin. But today I smoked up a half pound of cheap Fletchers strips using apple wood. Putting on real smoke upgrades any bacon.

Besides my local pasture-raised bacon from the farmer down the road I really like Pederson's uncured natural Apple smoked or Hickory smoked bacon. It's not pastured from what I can tell (they say the pigs are "humanely raised" whatever that means) but it doesn't contain any nitrates, nitrites, preservatives, antibiotics or growth hormones. I get it from Whole Foods.

http://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=10002&productId=363003

I have tried the Trader Joes Uncured Bacon and found it a little thin for cooking in the oven.

Just saw this Bacon flavored (Potato based) Vodka at a local liquor store.
