What would you do for a muscle strain that would not be good for a herniated disc? You rest, ice, then stretch and repair. muscle strain will go away sooner, and might not need as much -- but wouldn't be negative.

Bit of a zebra with aneurism, pain would be radiating up to base of skull, not in the symptoms at all....

Time to see a doctor ASAP. You need a competent diagnoses before you do self-treatment, there are things you do for muscle strain that would not be good for a herniated disk, etc.

in addition, pain there MIGHT indicate somethine else entirely, like an aneurysm. Particularly since you've had no relief from home treatment for muscular issues, it's time to get it checked out TODAY.

Agree with CDone, see a doctor if it doesn't improve soon.

"Pain killers" you say? Guessing OTC? Try a different one, people react differently to each. Many folks don't get much reaction from acetaminophen, but ibuprofen or naproxan work better. Heck, even old-fashioned aspirin works.

sounds like a herniated disc or a pulled muscle. If you have insurance, it's worth getting checked out. If you don't, I'd recommend 10-14 days rest (no running/ lifting/ etc -- slow walking is fine until pain sets in, then stop) and ice (40-60mins per day). Once the pain starts to subside, low grade streching:
