Just because one can, doesn't mean one should.

I searched a LOT and only found a couple decent articles extolling the benefits and I did find mention of toxicity but mostly for animals

http://kgkat.tripod.com/avocado.html Avocado Toxicity

Human toxicity seems limited to those allergic & sensitized.

I think i'll stick with guacamole & leave the pits for someone else.

Eat them, no. But they do make nice indoor trees and are pretty easy to germinate. Poke some toothpicks in the sides and suspend over a glass of water so it stays moist until germination happens and then plant in pot with potting soil. Had one grow to the ceiling and really fill out the room.

Why in the world would you eat avocado pits? Are you starving or have no other food? C'mon Eric, eat something... edible and tasty. If you look at monkeys - not only they don't eat pits, they don't eat fruit skin. Watch them on youtube! You are Paleo, man, so eat what is edible.

It's just that I have read some webpages that say it is beneficial and non-toxic for humans, so I am trying it... I asked the question to solicit others' opinions and knowledge

Why? I mean, you can google 'avocado pit edible' and you'll get comments about mild toxicity. Sometimes paleo people do really weird things (also seems to be something raw vegans are doing too.)
