Any Paleo Hackers from Brisbane, Australia around?

I am hoping to network with some fellow PHers in Brisbane, Australia in an attempt to hunt and gather some great Paleo products from this city. Share your best jerky supplier, your 100% why protein supplier, do you prefer the Eagle Farm Farmers Markets or the one's out by Rocklea?

Let's bring the Paleo to Brisbane!

Ah that is too funny. They really need to clean up all the old content on Google. It still makes it out like it exists. Maybe this post will fix that issue haha. I might catch you at a karate class soon then :) Woo. I have been chewing everyone's ear off at Karate about Paleo and we have around 3 or 4 of us following it now. Kain Johnson who is the Sensei at the Annerley dojo is a full Paleo machine now (not that he needed it as he is a man mountain). Sort of a double edge sword when martial artists go Paleo. They get so dam strong haha!

I share your frustration Jay - they always look so surprised when I don't share their enthusiasm about the grain-fed meat!

Yeah, as with everything... Lucky we have Suz getting the Aussie spin on her Paleo Network website. Australia is pretty good though, I find the norm for our beef is Grass Fed. Although now when I go to restaurants I get annoyed that they try to sell you 'grain fed for 100 days' as the 'premium steak'.

I try to get to the Gold Coast on the weekends to get in the surf and also have a paddleboard lined up for summer. Do you surf? I personally love Coolangatta more than anywhere in the world hehe... Except the dojo.

Hi CoconutBliss!! Woo so happy to talk to someone hunting and gathering in Brisbane aswell. I thought the Eagle Farm markets weren't too bad. I tried to find the markets at Coorparoo in the old Myer Centre but couldn't find it for the life of me. I think to date, the huge one's at Rocklea have been the best and had the best prices. Ill check out that protein supplier, thanks for the tip! :) And yes I am a big karate caveman hah. Check out Brisbane Goju Karate and feel free to come along. We have heaps of new students starting up now it is warming up. Yay for the internet :)

Yay! I'm a local Brisbanite. I frequent the Kelvin Grove markets as I find it a more pleasant experience as opposed to say, West End where the masses seem to flock - too many meandering hippies, tourists and weekend yuppies for my liking when all I want to do is get in and out (although there's a lady there who sells awesome pastured eggs from her little home chickies). Have actually never made it to the Eagle Farm markets - how do you rate it? There's also the Northey St Organic markets on Sundays which I've been meaning to visit for some time now.

If you're interested in a 100% whey protien supplier, I've bought this brand in the past from these guys at Hawthorn. Not sure where else it's stocked. http://www.vivehealth.com.au/Designer-Physique-Whey-Protein-Isolate-Plain-250g-750g-and-1.5kg.html#.UG4TllF6huY

Btw... you do karate?? I want in! I've always wanted to try it out!!

Hi Jay, You're in luck - the Paleo scene in Brisbane is very much alive and kicking!

You have your own Paleo Meet-up group which Jamie Hayes organises, and on the first of December Paleo is coming to Brisbane for the Low Carb Down Under Tour (tickets are selling pretty quick, so don't leave it too late to book!)

I also have a free Paleo Guide to Australia on my site which has a lot of listings in Brisbane that might be of interest to you.

Hope to meet you at the Low Carb Down Under seminar or a meet-up soon!

I'm in Brisbane too! I live about 7 minutes from the Rocklea markets and they are great. Where do you guys get your grassfed meat? At a stretch, and I mean - this is a stretch - but all the meat at Grill'd (the burger place) is grassfed. If you're in a pinch!

I'm in Perth, Australia! Most people are from the USA on here it seems, which makes it hard to source some of the products/meats everyone talks about.
