I haven't had my menstrual cycle in almost three years (last was Jan. 2013). I am recovered from anorexia although not weight-restored, so I'm 113 lbs. at 5'5.5" currently. I know that puts me as underweight. I'm trying tirelessly to gain weight and restore my health, because I'm assuming that the weight is causing me to not menstruate. I just got back lab results that show undetectable levels of estradiol. My endocrinologist is suggesting that I speak with my OB/GYN on starting a very low dose of estrogen pills. Thoughts? I hate the idea of artificial hormones but I'm worried about my fertility and bone health. I'm only 22-years-old. What are your suggestions in terms of the estrogen as well as other suggestions (food, etc.)? For reference, I'm following AIP Paleo with some reintroductions (I have Celiac's). Thank you SO much!
